Saw - The Videogame

Yes it's true, as if we hadn't had enough from the Saw franchise with 5 movies under its belt (with VI on its way) Konami, the famous gaming company who already have the Silent Hill property, is releasing a video game for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in October 2009 to coincide with the 6th cinematic release.

The game's plot will be original, tying into but not directly adapting any of the films. As "Saw" fans might expect, game play will center on torturer Jigsaw's signature traps, turned into puzzles. Players control a character in an asylum who has to decide whether and how to solve the puzzles and save Jigsaw's victims.

I can't say I've ever been a horror movie fan and even though I'm completely desensitised to gore, the Saw movies are a bit too sick even for my pallet. A game based on these twisted movies will be in the same vain as games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Condemned and Manhunter (none of which I've played as it's just not bag) but is said to be far more gruesome.

"'Silent Hill' is more about psychological terror, but 'Saw' for us is more about graphic, intense horror that overwhelms you," explained David Daniels, director of marketing for Konami. "We want players to turn away from the screen for just a moment because of the visual intensity."

The only thing good about Saw for me, well at at least Saw VI, is that Karen Cliche (one of my all-time favourite sci-fi girls) is rumoured to be playing the part of a woman name "Shelby". However I won't be watching it as she's bound to get graphically hurt, dismembered or even killed. That's not fun for me...

The amazing, almost Panther-like Karen Cliche. (Star of Mutant X and Flash Gordon)
