Gillian Anderson Set To Appear In Dr. Who?

The U.K. tabloid newspaper the Daily Express reported yesterday that X-Files Über stunner (yes if you hadn't guessed I love her) Gillian Anderson is set to take on the role of "The Rani", a renegade Time Lady who first appeared in the 1980s incarnation of Who, played by Kate O'Mara, in the new series of Dr. Who opposite Matt Smith.

This is from the Daily Express website:

“Gillian obviously has a massive sci-fi following and it’s felt it would be a major coup to have her appear in Doctor Who,” says a show insider. “The team behind the show are keen for the next Doctor to have lots of new enemies and Gillian would be a glamorous and impressive addition to the list. The Rani would be a perfect role for her as the character used to be regarded as one of the Doctor’s most deadly opponents.”

“It would undoubtedly be regarded as one of those great sci-fi moments if the star of The X-Files gets to clash with the Doctor,”

We'll have to take this with a pinch of salt as it's only a rumour based on an anonymous source for a tabloid newspaper. Buuuuuut, and it's a big but, if the 40 year old, London based, flame-haired, super-milf is indeed set to star then I'm even more excited than I was to hear Michelle Ryan was appearing.

I had a huge obsession with Ms Anderson when I was younger and had dozens of pictures and posters of her adorning my walls, I didn't get to see the new X-Files film and haven't seen any of her recent productions so I wait with baited breath for her Dr. Who involvement.
