I was sitting here over the weekend watching a bit of T.V. when I flicked over to an old episode of Star Trek Voyager. Being the unbelievably huge Trek Fan (Trekker) that I am I just happened to comment to the missus, as she walked in, that Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) really did give that particular series a much needed injection of appeal it started to lack up until her arrival.
It then ran over my mind that the Star Trek franchise has spawned a large quantity of some pretty amazing sci-fi babes who have kept a lot of the male population of the world interested in their respective shows... But who, overall, reigns supreme?
From Uhura in the original series right up to T-Pol in Enterprise, and then of course to new Uhura (Zoe Saldana) in the newest Star Trek movie, who is your favourite?
I have to say that I was always partial to Terry Farrell (JadziaDax) in Deep Space 9, in fact I was a little obsessed with her all those years ago, but if I had to choose one character from each series it would probably be these women:
The Original Series: Nurse Christine Chapel (always liked the younger Majel Barrett!)
The Next Generation: Difficult one this, but I'll have to go for Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis)
Deep Space Nine: Has to be JadziaDax (Terry Farrell)
Voyager: Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan)
Enterprise: T-Pol (Jolene Blalock)
2009 Movie: Uhura (Zoe Saldana)
Now you have to remember that I seem to get a crush on every woman from every T.V. show, so my brain is battling between literally every actress from these shows, but the above is my final choice... for now... I could give you my second and third options but then they'd probably then turn into 4th, 5th, 6th... you get the idea. Hence the reason I created our sister blog "scifiandfantasytvbabes"!
Who would you choose as your favourite's from each show and who would be your overall Star Trek Hottie?
And girls: Please feel free to nominate your male favourites too!
Oh and just for a little extra sex appeal take a look at this LINK for one of Jolene Blalocks best photoshoots. Beware that she's not nude, but she's not far off... She makes me want to change my mind from Terry to her!
I cannot wait for this movie... I said it in an earlier post a while back but Public enemies is my favourite DC graphic novel of all time. The trailer for this new movie looks cool, the still images look cool, and after the previous DC movies that have been pretty damn good, this is bound to be cool too! (Oh and equally excited about Green Lantern: First Flight of course!)
Pop over to enewsi.com HERE to read a full rundown of what the new DVD will include. Sounds pretty damn goo to me!
Word on the net is that Columbia Pictures' CG/live-action hybrid film based on "The Smurfs" will hit theaters in 3D. 'Smurfs 3D' is scheduled for a December 17, 2010 release in the US.
Some very early CG work on the movie.
The film will be based on the lovable characters created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known throughout the world as Peyo. "The Smurfs" were created for a Belgian series of comic books, first as minor characters. The villagers, known for their blue skin and small statures, spawned a line of statuettes, games, toys, theme parks and a hit TV series.
I own a shed load of Smurfs, they were a big part of my childhood as I was bought them all the time. I still have loads on my shelf even now and the theme tune is playing through my head as I type this! I know there are a lot of people out there thinking "dear God nooooo, I don't want to see this movie"! but I don't agree. The Smurfs was a great little cartoon for kids and I'm sure my two girls will really love it if they can pull it off. I've even heard rumours that none other than John Lithgow will voice the villain Gargamel!
Although I'm positive towards this film I have to admit to wanting to see a version like the one mocked up below a few years back... Making Smurfette hot gives me brain pain!
I'll believe it when i see it but SYFY have posted a rather promising story about preparations for a sequel to the 80's children's hit.
It looks like the original script writer and director, Chris Columbus and Richard Donner have had talks a short while ago about moving forward with the sequel, but maybe having the characters become the parents this time round...
The whole story is too long to re-post so take a look at the link HERE
I personally love this movie, as I'm sure KW does too (Hell yeah! Probably in my top 5 all time favourite movies!) KW. Fingers crossed that a decent script emerges and the old gang get back together.
What Was Missing From The New Trek Movie?
Ever wonder what was missing from the new TREK movie? HERE is a little insight into what we may see in the DVD extras from TNMC.org (not that we need them in the best film of 2009!!).
The information Harry Barber gives is actually quite interesting and there are little bits, just like with Terminator: Salvation, that you wonder why they weren't left in. Then again there are scenes that you can see very clearly why they were left out!
Hermione All Grown Up
Where the hell did those come from??? She's totally legal so I can now say "Emma Watson, I think I love you!!"
I love the potter films, and now have two extra reasons to watch them.......damn, I feel really wrong for adding this post......oh well, I'm going to hell.
(I really can't believe you posted that... but as you did here's a couple more pictures of Emma from Elle Magazine. She's fed up of having a schoolgirl image and wants everyone to know she's a woman now, and a wanna-be punk at heart!) KW
Isabel Lucas Gives Megan Fox A Run For Her Money...
Another reason that I love TRANSFORMERS 2..........other than Megan FOX.......
Here are some cracking pictures of the hottie Isabel LUCAS. Enjoy... I did when I saw them!
(And here's my contribution to the Isabel Lucas pics below with a few from a Trans II premiere. A beautiful Aussie actress who's also starring in the new vampire flick "Daybreakers"!) KW
Well I've now read several reports that T5 is on it's way for a 2011 release. Good news? I think so, after reading that 40 minutes of missing footage heading towards the DVD extras fills all those annoying plot holes...........like Kate Connors pregnancy which is never mentioned AT ALL!!!!!
As I've already said; I liked the movie and made sure that I saw it on the big screen twice before I made my mind up..........I'll tell you what people hate about T4.....it's not T2.
THIS IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT BEAST!!!!! you can't compare the two films as they're sooooooooooooooooo different.
Anyway I'll wait for T5 with relish to see how they manage to change the setting to London?? Random or what.....but as long as there's a lingering shot of the house of parliament burning with all the MP's inside, I won't mind at all.
Check out this original news post from Slashfilm.com and inentertainment.co.uk below.
"Well we’ve already done an earlier post on the movie Terminator Salvation,” and now we hear there is going to be a sequel to that movie. According to slashfilm.com, the movie “Terminator Salvation” was set up to be the first in a new trilogy of Terminator movies.
And it is also said that the ending of the new movie may divide audiences. We may even see T2 star Robert Patrick back for a cameo role in the next film. It has also been said that “Terminator 5” will be set in a pre-judgement day 2011.
The movie storyline may even follow John Connor as he travels back in time, so there may be transports and hunter killers and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare. How awesome. The film is said to have a 2011 release date".

Funko Star Wars USB Drives
For a few years now USB drives have not only become highly important for people who wish to carry data around with them or transfer from PC to PC but they've also delved into the 'fun realm' with various companies transforming the drives into characters from the t.v. and movie world. We've already seen some funky Star Wars themed USB sticks from Mimobot, but now Funko, the company that's brought us thousands of bobble head's over the past few years, have now decided to enter the market with some 3D versions which closely resemble their bobble line. Only the 2GB versions are available so far, so they're more for collectors than for serious data users, but they still look fun and have that slightly practical edge to them... You can find them on Entertainment Earth HERE on the right hand side of the page at $24.99 each.
What's A 70's Fangirl To Do? Star Wars Collectibles For Girls From The 70's
Starwars.com comes up trumps again with a new list of 70's Star Wars toys and collectibles that were specifically aimed at girls. It's not surprising that I've never seen any of this stuff but my kids would have loved them if they'd been released now! I actually think the Ewok stuff is awesome, I want some of those plushes! Take a look HERE for a 12 page list of funky female themed products.
A Mini Star Wars Michael Jackson Tribute...
Yodanews.com posted a short video on Youtube as a tribute to the late Michael Jackson who passed away last week from a cardiac arrest at 50 years old. Who knew an AT-ST had such soul?
If you know me then the fact that I'm a gaming addict isn't news to you. I've owned every UK console since the Atari 2600 back when I was about 4 up to the X-Box 360 (haven't invested in the PS3 just yet) and I've had literally hundreds of games across every one. I've even owned systems such as the old AmstradCPC 464, Commodore 64, Amiga 500 + and of course various PC's through the ages.
I consider myself somewhat of a gaming expert, a Jedi-level gamer who is rarely beaten in any genre and I don't have a particular forte that I specialise in (that's not me being big-headed, it just a simple fact!). First person shooters, third person action games, driving, sports... you name it, I only usually have to play it once and I can master it. My only problem is being a little too lazy to worry about completing every game and getting all the achievements. That's why you'll see my gamer score is still under 17k. I buy the games for entertainment rather than ranking... I have less than a third of my potential achievements from the 73 games I own and I can't be bothered to go back to the old games and seek out all those lost points. Maybe one day when I have the time I will, but not whilst there are good new games coming out almost every month!
Recently I bought 3 games for the 360: Bionic Commando and Red Faction: Guerrilla first and then Prototype a week later.
Whilst Bionic Commando was 'OK' and kept my interest for a little while, it's not a fantastic game and has a large number of flaws that made me jump straight over to Red Faction within a couple of days. Don't get me wrong, it's enjoyable enough, but its linear level to level design feels claustrophobic, even on it's larger open levels, and too many frustrating mishaps and deaths can occur from the most minuscule mistake when arm jumping from one spot to another. Little things here and there did impress me at first, like the over the shoulder zoom view and the actual arm swinging (which is obviously the main selling point to the whole game), but these things simply wore off as time went on and it all felt a little too weak compared to other games in the 3rd person genre. I'll complete it at some stage but for now it's in limbo on my shelf.
Red Faction: Guerrilla is a better game than Bionic Commando, but there's just one small problem. I've played it before... as Mercenaries 2... Yes Red Faction: Guerrilla is Mercenaries 2 on Mars. It looks and feels almost identical, apart from the obvious cosmetic differences that life on Mars presents. I admit that I haven't got that far just yet, I didn't give it enough of a chance before I bought Prototype, but so far the much advertised destruction capabilities of your weapons and vehicles, with the realistic physics that come with them, are very enjoyable, if not a tad repetitive. I'm looking forward to getting deeper into this game and experiencing new weapons and vehicles (I've heard there are some impressive mecha-type suits available later on) and seeing just how big the destruction levels can get... It's worth a purchase if you like sandbox-type wanton destruction, or even if you like clubbing the enemies heads in with a giant hammer (most enjoyable), but if you played Mercs 2 and didn't think much of it, you won't find anything for you in this game.
Now on to the best of the 3: Prototype. I'd heard about this a while back and had seen some impressive game play footage on Youtube (which you can see some of below), but the videos just can't give this game the justice it deserves. Again it's not fantastic, it's not a 10/10 game that I'd advise everyone to get, but it is one of the best 3rd person action games to have come out in the last few years. But guess what the problem is? I've played it before... 3 times over in fact... it's Spider-Man 3, The Incredible Hulk and Mercenaries 2 all in one.
Seriously, if you've played Spidey 3 or Hulk then you'll see exactly what I mean within the first 5 minutes of game play. You may not be able to swing on webs or be the size of hulk on screen, but apart from those two minor differences Prototype is a spruced up melding of those two with the weapons and vehicle entrance technique and usage of Mercs 2.
Despite the fact that some may find this a wholly unoriginal game that you feel you've been duped into buying, it's really not, and delivers some of the most enjoyable game play I've had since Left 4 Dead. The extras that you get set it apart from others just enough that it stands out enough to be better.
You play as Alex Mercer, a character who has lost his memory and is infected with a virus that has altered his DNA (that's the story to begin with anyway). This alteration now allows him to not only change his body into a number of sharp and blunt weapons with massive destructive capabilities, but also create armour and a shield to protect him too. On top of those offensive and defensive powers you also have the ability to 'consume' the humans and mutants of New York which allows you to not only absorb their memories but also take on their appearance's at will too. This feature is the single most important in the game as it powers the story of you getting your memory back and finding out why New York is turning into a chaotic battle zone flooded with the virus you seem to have.
As with both Spidey and Hulk you have to augment your abilities as you progress through the game by way of experience points. You obtain these points by killing and consuming beings around you, destroying military or infected buildings within New York and by completing missions. You'll find by the end of the game that you're the very proud owner of some of the most kick-ass moves and specials ever found in a video game. The 'Devastator' moves in particular are an awesome site to behold and don't really get old when you start to continually pull them off. The game also takes a whole new route when you gain the ability to steal vehicles from your military adversaries. You'll wonder how you ever survived without the use of a helicopter the first time you board one, and start tearing up the street with your missiles and chain guns. Even getting into the helicopters can be fun. When yours explodes and you eject, only to glide over to another and take that one, that's some enjoyable game play...
Even if you're not in a vehicle the use of adaptive Parkour (the running and jumping up and down objects and walls thing seen in the beginning of Casino Royale for example) is very natural and responsive. The addition of auto-jumping over cars and debris is especially welcome! You can run at speed, jump great heights and even glide over the streets to get to where you need to go, and all of those moves are upgradeable. All these progressive abilities are probably why I made the effort to complete it, and succeeded. It's addictive and visually stunning and you want to see more.
All in all this game is quite big, it's open, it's morbidly beautiful and it's certainly gory as hell. But it's not as big as you might want and it's not flawless... It's just one of those games you absolutely have to add to your collection if you loved the games that it resembles, which I luckily do, or you just like a mass-scrapfest. It's longevity is about 8 - 11 hours but is enhanced by the fact that once the main story mode is over you can still continue to rid New York of all the filth that still resides in it and gain those extra abilities you may not have grabbed before the finale.
I recommend Prototype over Bionic Commando and Red Faction, but if you have the money; get Red Faction too. RF is fun, it's huge and it won't be a waste of your time or money if you're into that sort of game.
Yet again Megan Fox had jaws on the floor this Thursday night when she appeared on 'The Late Show With David Letterman'. Looking absolutely stunning in a black dress with a rather revealing front, Megan Fox showed exactly why she's said to be the hottest woman in the world.
Angelina; you really have your work cut out here my dear! A small selection of photos from Megan arriving and then actually sitting down on the show are below.
Firstshowing.net have managed to collect all 8 character posters for Shane Acker's fantastic new animated movie '9'.
Each one is damed spooky and absolutely beautiful in their own little ways. See them all below in mini form or visit the link HERE which links to all the higher res versions across the web.
Again it looks like something else has completely slipped by my omni-knowledge... I must be getting old.
Vampires have been a popular mainstay in the entertainment world for ever since the early 1900's. I've never been a fan of horror movies, they just aren't my cup of tea, but I am a huge vampire movie fanatic. Movies like From Dusk Til Dawn, Lost Boys, Blade, Dracula (Gary Oldman version), Monster Squad, Underworld etc are all favourites of mine. Those are some of the better movies but then you also get the bad ones... Ultraviolet, Bloodrayne, 30 days of night (sorry, didn't like it), I am Legend (again not a fan), Lesbian Vampire Killers (plain awful) and of course TWILIGHT! (hours of my life I can never get back...)
Even T.V. has been awash with blood suckers in the past with Buffy, Angel, Trublood, Moonlight, Blood Ties, Blade the series and many, many more.
Now there seems to be a pretty good looking movie called 'Daybreakers' which focuses on an Earth almost completely dominated by vampires who are rapidly running out of humans to supply them with their precious blood. As the situation worsens a blood substitute is created by the government but there are problems... At the same time a cure for vampirism is found when a band of humans enlist a vampire scientist to help them repopulate their dwindling numbers... What will happen to the society in place and will the humans be able to fight back and re-take their home?
How did I not know about this?!!! Telltale games are developing 2 new Monkey Island games called 'Tales of Monkey Island' which will be released in 5 monthly episodes for PC and Wiiware starting in July and 'The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition', a re-vamped release of the original game that started it all.
When I was younger, and my Amiga 500+ was the pinnacle of gaming power, the two original Monkey Island games kept me occupied for hours upon end. The second game especially was a hugely enjoyable experience for me and a massive task to complete. 12 floppy discs that you were forever changing... That music still gives me chills today! I can't say that I ever played the 3rd and 4th games, they didn't really look that good, but then I've always been a Monkey Island fanatic at heart so I've always kept track just in case I was tempted.
Guybrush Threepwood through the ages, the first two being the versions I remember.
Below is the new trailer for the 'Tales of Monkey Island' game where you can see hero Guybrush Threepwood and villain LeChuck as you've never seen them before... although I can't say this looks any funnier or playable than the original games.
