Hugo Weaving For Red Skull In Captain America Movie?

Although Marvel Studios and director Joe Johnston seem to be having a little trouble locking down the perfect actor for the lead role in the new Captain America: The First Avenger movie news broke yesterday that Hugo Weaving (Matrix Trilogy & LOTR trilogy) could very well be the movie's main villain... The Red Skull. This doesn't seem too far fetched as Weaving's last film release was The Wolfman which Johnston directed...

The following news is from THR:

Marvel Studios has zeroed in on Hugo Weaving to play the villainous Red Skull in “Captain America.” The deal making with Weaving is in a delicate stage that will play out in the next day or so. Agencies grouse that Marvel plays hardball in the negotiating process and also demands multi-movie commitments, though the latter usually applies to actors playing its heroes. If a deal happens, it would reunite the actor with Johnston, with whom he worked in the recent horror thriller “The Wolfman.” The CAA-repped Weaving already is known to genre fans as bad guy Agent Smith of the “Matrix” movies and elf ruler Elrond of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

I can see a lot of other actors being perfect for this role but when you think about it Weaving does have that slimy, evil, intelligent, gravitas that the Red Skull has in the comics. Now we just need to hear his German accent and we're set!

Wow I didn't know this, good find and I think he is a good choice for this role. I am a DC guy through and through but I like some Marvel and Cap is one of them, I hope this movie is better than the one they did in the 70s and 90s.
