Transformers 3 - Release Date And T2 News

There was a bit of a hoo-ha last week when Paramount stated the scheduled release date for the third Transformers movie would be July 1st 2011 (which got a lot of fanboys excited) and then Michael Bay jumped in on his own official forum and said it was actually 2012 not 2011! Bay wants to take a year off from filming and when someone at the studio heard Bay mention July they just presumed he meant the earlier date and jumped the gun.

The director said "That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots." Either way the news that there will be a third installment is great even if it will be a year later than first thought.

In other Transformer movie news; Bay has also been quoted recently in saying that he'd love to get original Soundwave voice actor Frank Welker into the new movie to provide the voice over. Welker also voiced Megatron in the original cartoons but that part was taken by Hugo Weaving in the first movie in 2007. Hugo Weaving will be back to reprise his role as Megatron this year but Bay has stated that his role is minimal and is nothing to get excited over. We'll see about that!
Getting Welker back to voice his original role of Soundwave is great news and just adds to the goose bump inducing, fanboy canon that Peter Cullen brought back to Optimus Prime. Tell me the hairs on the back of your neck didn't stand up when you heard Cullen say "I am Optimus Prime" for the first time in the first movie!!!

The original Soundwave. Can't wait to see his new form in Revenge of the Fallen!

Oh and just in case you hadn't seen The Fallen as he'll look in the new movie here's one of the only images available of his robot form. Evil looking git isn't he?!
