Wallace And Gromit - New T.V Series Heading Our Way?
Rumour has it that Wallace and Gromit could be set to appear in a new TV show about “amazing contraptions”.
“We’re talking about a series that could involve inventions in which Wallace and Gromit could appear” Oscar-winning Aardman Animations founder Nick Park told The Independent.
“My dad used to spend time in the shed building things” Nick told the newspaper, adding “But I also used to love stories – HG Wells, The Time Machine; you know, those stories which were all about Victorian inventors who built rockets and things like that.
“I think I used to want to be an inventor as a child and I’m sort of living that out. I used to keep a box under my bed with broken toys and old electric motors…”
Nick Park created his famous cheese-loving handyman and his equally famous dog while he was still a student at the National Film and TV School in 1982. Apparently, Nick managed to get Last of the Summer Wine actor Peter Sallis to be the voice of Wallace after sending him “a pleading letter”.
Apparently, talks with the BBC are “still in the early stages” about this new show but if you’re missing the crackin’ couple since we last saw them at Christmas, you can get a fix of W&G by visiting ‘A World of Cracking Ideas’ which is the new Wallace and Gromit exhibition at London’s Science Museum.
Nick also said in the newspaper interview that his Aardman co-founder, Peter Lord, is set to direct a new animated movie entitled ‘Pirates’ which will be the latest offering since the hugely successful films Chicken Run and The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit.
“It is a Python-esque take on a pirate story” Nick said. “It will be hilarious.”
There can never be enough Wallace and Gromit in this World. Bring on a new series!!!
