Sega Megadrive - The Return

Yes you read the post title correctly. This April get set for the return of one of the most popular 16 bit consoles ever created. Hive Entertainment, under the subsidiary name of 'Blaze', the company that recently brought us the Sega Megadrive Handheld (the device that had 20 pre-loaded Megadrive games) is now releasing a brand new version of the original console that not only has 15 pre-loaded classic games but also has a slot for old Megadrive and Genesis cartridges too, meaning that your old Sega carts that are gathering dust in your dingy cupboards can now be replayed for your lasting retro amusement (if you don't own the original Megadrive itself of course!). Another major bonus is that it will play almost every game from every region in the World meaning your imports will have a home on the same unit as your domestic collection for the first time.

The 'Sega Megadrive Twin Pad Console' as it's now called features the following 15 pre-loaded games:
Alex Kid, Alien Storm, Altered Beast, Arrow Flash, Bonanza Bros., Columns, Crack Down, Decap Attack, E Swat, Fatal Labyrinth, Flicky, Gain Ground, Golden Axe, Shadow Dancer, Sonic And Knuckles.

I'm the proud owner of almost every gaming console (and handheld) ever released in the UK (except for the Neo Geo and the PS3 so far) and I still own my original Megadrive along with a plethora of classic games. I still play oldies like Road Rash 1 & 2, Streets of Rage II and Desert Strike on the odd occasion and the old graphics and sound never seem TOO old compared to the X-box 360 etc when you're having fun. This new machine should allow you to not only choose NTSC or PAL for the output but will also allow 60 hertz play on plasma's and LCD's instead of the old 50 hertz for older CRT T.V's and the like. Unfortunately it probably won't upscale the graphics so you'll have to deal with the massive pixelation that will be seen on larger T.V's.
