A Dark Knight Post

DAY ONE ALMOST HERE.........BUT WE MAY NOT SEE DAY TWO.

More and more details are emerging from NBC about 'DAY ONE'...... not only is it a disaster show, but it now emerges that the disaster is following an alien invasion. Most of the following comes from scifiwire.com

"NBC President of Prime Time Entertainment Angela Bromstad spilled more details about the show in a group interview following her press conference in Pasadena, Calif., as part of the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, and she gave up a big piece of the shows premise: It's about aliens".

"It's an alien invasion," Bromstad said. "Not just a disaster. It's an alien invasion." That appears to confirm impressions left by a grainy trailer for the show that was leaked online.

Earlier, Bromstad had said the show might be of limited duration and tell a contained story, but she declined to be more specific about how many episodes that first, and possibly only, season will contain.

"We're still determining that," Bromstad said. "We're getting scripts in next week. We have three additional scripts coming in, so we're still talking to [series creator] Jesse [Alexander] about what our programming needs are and creative needs."

Could we be left hanging like Jericho, or are they going to wrap it all up in 1 series..........only time will tell.

MORE SGU INFO FROM SYFY.

No one told Stargate Universe star not to reveal spoilers

Stargate Universe star Robert Carlyle fortunately didn't get the memo saying that stars of sci-fi series shouldn't tell reporters what's going to happen, and he was only too happy to share with us a raft of spoilers for the upcoming Syfy original series.

Carlyle headlines the ensemble cast as Dr. Nicholas Rush, the reclusive leader who is responsible for an accident that sends a group of soldiers, scientists and civilians through a Stargate onto the runaway Ancient starship Destiny. Needless to say, there are spoilers ahead!

SGU Cast

Back Row, from left: Ming-Na, Justin Louis, Jamil Walker Smith, Brian J. Smith, Lou Diamond Phillips. Middle: Alaina Huffman, David Blue, Elyse Levesque. Front: Robert Carlyle

Take one recent episode. "I was floating in a tank, and that was kind of bizarre, in actual fact," Carlyle said in a group interview last month at Comic-Con in San Diego. "A bunch of aliens actually got me. Of course, Rush is left on a planet, which is what he deserves, and then the aliens come and pick him up and stick him in a tank. So that's where you suddenly pick me up again, floating in it. So that was quite cool."

But wait, there's more. "We do all die, and then we come back to life," Carlyle revealed. "It's a very, very interesting episode written by Robert Cooper called 'Time.'"

Also look for Stargate SG-1 star Richard Dean Anderson to return to his old stomping grounds, reprising the role of Gen. Jack O'Neill. "He was lovely," Carlyle said. "He really was. He was very humble about the whole thing, in fact. I think he also understood, very quickly, that this is a different thing. He said it was a different show from the one that he had been used to, and, of course, Gen. O'Neill comes back. I think that he's in four or five of the episodes, but you don't actually need to know who the guy is at all. He's so solid with his character, and that's fantastic to act with."

Robert Carlyle

SGU is built around the same mythology as the two previous Stargate series but is nevertheless intended to stand alone for viewers new to the franchise. "I guess we have to obviously give a nod to SG-1 and Atlantis, because we wouldn't be here if those shows hadn't been there," Carlyle acknowledged. "I don't think it's necessary to have watched any of that, at all, in fact. I mean, I guess you have the issues of this general, and even if you hadn't seen him before, he would just seem like another character, so we don't have to be familiar with the past to take on the future."

Aboard the Destiny, the major friction will take place between Carlyle's Rush and Col. Everett Young, played by Louis Ferreira. "Myself and Louis Ferreira are together a lot, and we go on extremely well, because we have to, because we're at each other's throats," Carlyle said. "It's very, very tense stuff."

Younger characters provide passive-aggressive tensions for Rush. David Blue plays Eli, a genius slacker. "Rush is kind of like Salieri, and Eli is a Mozart," Carlyle described. "That's what's going on. He needs this boy. This boy is probably much more clever than him, but he's not going to let him know that."

Rush might seem hardened or gruff, certainly antisocial, but Carlyle said he is not mean or vicious. "I think he's got a wicked sense of humor, but he keeps pretty much to himself," Carlyle said. "I don't think he's the kind of guy who takes pleasure in other people's discomfort or anything like that. He would be quite happy on his own. He's troubled in terms of his wife. His wife is dead, and he wasn't exactly there for her, and this is what caused an awful lot of Rush's problems. He's a very, very lonely man."

Stargate Universe premieres Oct. 2 at 9 p.m on Syfy.

RE-WATCHING THE WATCHMEN.

I don't care what anyone says, this movie is a masterpiece.......from start to finish it delivers a great story, great acting, and meaty chunks of action. I know it's not your normal superhero movie, but isn't that why WATCHMEN should stand apart??? And how can anyone dispute this movies action credentials after the prison fight......not quite up to the standards of "300", but Zac Snyder done good!!!!

Here's on of the more compelling reasons to watch the movie......Malin AKERMAN

WOO HOO!.......T5 IS COMING (AND, APPARANTLY SO IS T6!).

Here and extract from SCIFISCOOP.COM

Although Terminator Salvation was initially intended to be the first part of a new Terminator trilogy, its performance at the domestic US box office led many to question whether a fifth Terminator film would happen.

Then, to everyone’s surprise, the film gunned it on the international circuit, almost doubling Star Trek’s foreign take to hit a reasonable box office haul of $341M worldwide. That led to speculation that Terminator 5 might be back on the agenda – and it seems it is, with director McG now confirming Terminator 5 is being worked on as we speak.

In fact, in a recent interview with IGN, McG has not only confirmed Terminator 5 is being worked on, but so too is the third movie in the trilogy, Terminator 6.

"Yeah, we’re working on it right now. We’re very far down the line with the story for that – for the next picture, and even the picture after that, and feeling good and we’ll see where that takes us. I mean, we’re making it. Warners is excited about it. Sony is excited about it. And we can’t wait to get back at it and show the world what becomes of that war and how we master time travel because we stayed away from time travel in Salvation and I missed it. We decided it was the right thing to do and we did a lot of things right in that movie and we did many things wrong in that movie. And we’ll learn from the experience and we’ll grow and I think the next movie is going to be even more exciting and a better film".

In terms of storyline McG says Terminator 5 will go back to the grass roots of time-travel and running from a new kind of Terminator:

"One of the problems is that in a post-apocalyptic world, everybody’s a little bummed out because your brother melted… your friends are gone. Everything went haywire. So the idea is to play with one of the tried and true rules of the franchise – time travel – and introduce it in this picture. I don’t want to share too much, but let’s just say it’s very, very likely that John Connor is going to end up running through rooms like this where he knows something that none of us know. And I think that is a platform for great storytelling. Because I always love it when [Kyle] Reese is in our world, as you saw in the first picture, and everybody thinks he’s out of his [expletive] mind and he knows and he can’t afford to be concerned. And he’s got to convince someone he cares about to come with him! And that’s one of the engines. And we’ll have a much more clearly defined antagonist in the new picture. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass".

And what would McG say to those who thought poorly of Terminator Salvation:

"I think the film missed some of the fun that Jim [Cameron] brought to the early pictures…We’ll bring a little bit more relief in that [fun] capacity. Not to the degree that you saw in the third picture, but a little bit more than ours. We wanted to be very, very nose to the grindstone and really establish credibility and it worked in many ways and it was unsuccessful in other ways, because it wasn’t a unanimous world of “[Expletive] yeah, we love Terminator Salvation.” There were plenty of people who kicked us in the ass over it…clearly I didn’t do a good enough job on that picture and I didn’t satisfy the fanbase to the degree that I would expect to satisfy them. And I take that very seriously and I just work that much more diligently to make sure I do that in the next one…It was very difficult to follow in the footsteps of my hero, Jim Cameron. I did the best I could and I learned a great deal, and I’m certain that I’m a better storyteller now, having had that experience. And I think the next film is going to be very pleasing and very surprising to the fans. That’s the goal".

G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra Video Game - Preview

So, after watching the G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra movie last weekend and really enjoying it, what is there next?

Well you could wait until the end of the year when the DVD and Bluray releases hit the shelves, or if you're anything like me, you'll want to grab the game that ties in with the movie!

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra will be a multi platform release in the UK on the 7th (360, Wii, PS2 and DS) and 14th of August (PSP & PS3) and for those of you in the US; it was released today!
It's a good looking third person action game which grants you the use of multiple movie and comic characters, vehicles, weapons and tactics to get your mission completed.

Among the classes included for the various characters in The Rise of Cobra there is the Commando who do well at close range, Heavy Weapons who possess extraordinary shooting skills but do it best from a distance and Soldier who are a balance between the two. The classic "Yo Joe!" battle cry is in the game, being used as an invulnerability power-up when the G.I. Joe character gains access to the Accelerator Armor, allowing them to be undamaged while attacking Cobra troops and vehicles.

The full list of characters included are as follows:

Backblast

Baroness

Beachhead

Duke

Firefly

Flash

Gung-Ho

Heavy Duty

Kamakura

Ripcord

Scarlett

Shipwreck

Snake-Eyes

Storm Shadow

You can also unlock the various characters and special outfits throughout the game by accumulating points gained in missions. This adds a little more longevity to what could easily be a basic 8 hour blast fest. However I'm actually a big fan of third person action games, especially ones where you can blow stuff up and kills loads of bad guys so this looks pretty good to me.

Below are a few more in-game images and a trailer. Hopefully by next week I'll have the game in hand and should be able to do a full review for those of you that are thinking of buying it.

Ben 10: Evolutions Coming Soon - Plus Who's Behind The Voices Of Alien Force?

Brand new news to me this week was that the amazing Ben 10 cartoon is getting its third T.V. incarnation in the form of "Ben 10: Evolutions".

"The all-new animated series follows 16-year-old Ben Tennyson as his secret identity has been revealed to the world and now he's an international mega-star super hero, loved by kids all over the world but distrusted by many adults. Now armed with a mysterious new Omnitrix, Ben will see action in places he's never been before. The first season of the series is set to contain 20 episodes".

If anyone watched the brilliant final double episode season 2 finale recently ("War of the worlds" which really was frickin cool) you would have seen that after Azmuth (the Galvan creator of the Omnitrix) gave Ben temporary access to over 1million aliens by unlocking the master control for him to defeat the Highbreed, all its power got used up and the Omnitrix reset itself and 10 different aliens where then available (although you didn't really see anything, Ben just says he doesn't recognise the new alien and says "here we go again!").

It seems that Azmuth originally programmed every alien race in the galaxy into the Omnitrix and instead of the 10,000 Ben knew about (set up as groups of ten that can only be accessed one set at a time so we're told) there's potentially a never ending supply of aliens for Ben to transform into... If he can only access them again!

It's an awesome selling technique for toy manufacturers like Bandai who can keep releasing waves of toys every time Ben, Gwen and Kevin change their clothes or a new bunch of aliens come along. They even change the Omnitrix in the cartoon so that they can release a new toy based on it! Genius! They have an almost never ending supply of characters to call upon in the future should they need them... and kids really will go nuts for them, as they already do.

This new T.V. series will be set one year after Alien Force and obviously as you've read above; things will change dramatically for Ben. But will we see Grandpa Max return, do they even need him anymore? Or Julie and Ship? Will Gwen's powers have changed or advanced once again? What will be the names and powers of the 10 new aliens that have their DNA stored in the new Omnitrix, and who will be the "big bad" of the new series? All will supposedly be revealed in 2010 when Evolutions is set to air.

Fo now you might be happy enough to watch this video of the Alien Force voice cast talking to Cartoon Network at SDCC last year. Did you know that Gwen was the girl from Mel Gibson's "What Women Want" movie? I didn't!

Ninja Assassin - Posters And Newest Trailer Link

Having been brought up by a Japanese stepdad and having lived in Hong Kong for a few years when I was younger I have a solid connection and understanding of all things Asian and an obsession with martial arts and the films that display them. I grew up on Bruce Lee (Enter the Dragon being my all time favourite) and Jackie Chan films and was personally taught different fighting styles including Kendo, Tai Kwon Do, Wing Chun and Bushido by my stepdad. I might be a geek and maybe a little decrepid these days but I'll still kick your ass to kingdom come baby! ;)

I try to watch as many fighting films as I can and I was recently impressed by the Ong Bak movie starring the amazing Tony Jaa. There's even a sequel/ prequel which should be fantastic.

Even more recently though there's been word of a martial arts orientated movie that seems to be getting quite the buzz: 'Ninja Assassin'. NA stars Korea's answer to Justin Timberlake; "Jeong Ji-Hun" otherwise known simply as "Rain".

This movie looks amazing just from the little amount of footage the trailer gives us so I can't wait to see it in the cinema when it's finally released in November here in the UK.

Here are some posters, an image of the ultra ripped Rain and then the link for the newest official trailer. Watch it in full screen HD if you can.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox - Trailer

WTF is this?

I've been hearing things about this movie, and seeing the odd pic online recently, but I had no interest until now. And I can't say that it's positive interest just yet!

Looking like a throwback to my childhood days of watching Wind in the Willows on T.V. this trailer looks like it was made by a bunch of uni students, hepped up on ganja... Sure there are bits that look funny but surely we've passed this stage of cinematic evolution now? Do we really have to take a step backwards into stop motion that looks 20 years behind Wallace and Gromit? And George Clooney and Bill Murray doing voices? Nope, nope, nope...

You might enjoy the trailer, but for now I'm sitting on the negative side of the fence on this as one of those movies I'll miss if you don't mind!

Thundercats IYP Now Released!!!

THUNDER, THUNDER, THUNDER, THUNDERCATS HO!

Yes it's true, finally my long awaited Thundercats IYP (In Your Pocket) has finally hit the shelves and aren't I proud!

If you didn't know already one little part of my job is to sometimes help in the creation of IYP's for Underground Toys, the manufacturer responsible for the Mr.T, Scarface, Stewie, Star Wars, Rocky, WWE and Only Fools and Horses In Your Pockets that you can find in most Clinton Cards and HMV's or online shops such as Play.com and Amazon. There are many others in the range but I can't remember the whole lot!

I'd helped create the Star Wars and WWE IYP in the past but my crowning triumph for me has to be the Thundercats version. Being the huge 80's geek that I am when we got the go ahead to create this thing I was totally stoked. All across the UK and maybe even the world there will be geeks of my age saying "oh cool, Thundercats, I remember that!" and then they press the top left button and hear that nostalgic Sword of Omens chant... Ah, the good old days of T.V.!

The funny thing is that all the phrases I originally chose to go on the IYP are on there, but the packaging backing card states 4 wrong...

On the actual product are:

"Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats, ho!"
"Sword Of Omens, Give me sight beyond sight"
"Snarf, Snarf!"

"Let's Go Thundercats!"

"Don't Like The Looks Of That!"

"Mumm-Ra Lives!"

But the backing card says they are:

"Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats, ho!"
"Sword Of Omens, Give me sight beyond sight"
"Safari Joe has done it again!"

"The Thundercats! They're loose!"
"Where evil exists... Mumm-ra lives"
"By thunder! If ever I were to catch that Tanknapper, I'll smash him to smithereens!"

Nothing to do with me of course, and I'm happy my original phrases are actually on there! Get yourself one today from forbiddenplanet.co.uk HERE for £8.99 and then tell people that you know the guy who made it!

Here are two pics I just took on my phone with me holding it.

Thundercats Movie Artwork From The Crimson Blur

A Crimson Blur Post

You know what? Running around the world saving pretty ladies makes me really hungry... but never mind that, I'll eat later as I've come across some exciting news about one of my all time favourite cartoons "Thundercats".

As you're probably aware, talks have been going on for a very long time that a Thundercats movie will be made soon and it wasn't that long ago that this had been confirmed by Warner Brothers. People where originally saying that it'd be a live action movie, then it was going to be CGI then live, then CGI etc etc.... No one could confirm.

Personally I believe it will work better as a CGI outing but not a Star Wars - Clone Wars type of CGI, more a Final Fantasy - Advent Children style as I believe the Thundercats world is huge and it will only work with that kind of technology (watch Advent Children if you haven't seen it and you'll know what I mean).

Now I've come across some concept art for the Thundercats movie via "Movieline" which look awesome and if they go ahead with that idea, the scale of the movie looks huge! I personally like the design for the lord of the Thundercats "Lion-O" and the Mutant attack. Check out these images and you tell me if this won't turn out to be a excellent film!

That's my bit for today, I'm off to get a Maccy D's!

Moon Bloodgood Gallery...

Now here's a link purely for Moon Bloodgood fans (Dark Knight that means you!).

Djmickgirls.co.uk put up a gallery of Moon pics a while back and having come across it just this week I thought I'd share. Personally I'm still a Fox devotee but Miss Bloodgood is definitely one lovely lady!

The Super Hero Squad Show Music Video

The Hasbro line "Marvel Super hero Squad" has been so popular that they decided to make it into a kids T.V. show. There's even a video game coming out so you can battle the mini-Marvel-minions with a controller as well as in your own hands...

The basic premise is that all the Marvel characters are shrunk into small, super-deformed versions of their heroic selves and sold to kids as pocket toys. There are literally hundreds of Marvel characters that have had the Super Hero Squad touch given to them and now the cartoon series is about to air.

This video below has supposedly become so catchy that MTV are doing a whole 15 min T.V. spot on it and the show itself very soon... Each to their own as they say. Watch the trailer and see what you think.

Awesome Artwork...

Below are a few pics I found online that grabbed my attention this week. Not much, but fun nonetheless!

This first one I found via a link by the amazing Geekgirldiva is for a t-shirt sporting a rather rude but very funny Star Wars "Han Job" pic with Han and Leia. As she quoted "I guess we now know who shot first!"... Classic. The t-shirt can be purchased HERE

This art work below is from rivetart.com and features a slew of talented artists and some really great pieces of art. The site has more pics, covering all kinds of different licenses and mediums, but I've chosen a select few of my favourites which I love. The first 3 are by artist Scott Campbell, the 4th by Chris Lee and the last by Clinton Reno. All awesome in their own rights and take me back to my youth with fuzzy feelings of cartoon happiness.

I was also contacted by RTY earlier today who not only wanted us to see his artwork on his blog HERE which includes a beautiful Lynda Carter pic but also his custom DVD cover work which you can view and download from his other blog HERE.

Some great custom work for people who want to either re-box their current DVD collection or put all those downloaded T.V. programmes or movies onto disc and actually have a professional looking case for them (not that we condone that of course!). Loved the first one on there "Black Scorpion", haven't seen that in years! I used to have a huge crush on Joan Severance when I was younger!

Ahh I do Love These SDCC Cosplay Galleries...

Heroes - Volume 5 Trailer

Although Heroes hasn't been on top form lately the missus and I still love it. The studio/ writers need a severe kick up the backside to get them out of the hole they dug themselves into last year but I'm hoping volume 5 does indeed show us some good stuff when it returns... We'll have to wait and see.

Here's the trailer for volume 5:

The Dark Knight - Stargate Universe Trailer

A Dark Knight Post

Not sure if KW already posted this, but it's worth a look for the second time if he has. More SDCC footage of SGU......shows loadsa action, sex, and some amazing setting.
THIS IS GONNA BE GOOD.

Futurama Voice Actors Stay On!

Thank f**k for that (pardon the language)...

This news below comes directly from scifiwire.com:

Good news, everyone!

Remember that report that Fox had sent out a casting call to replace the voice actors in the newly resurrected Futurama episodes that will air soon on Cartoon Network?

Seems it was a bargaining ploy after all, at least if we are to believe a report today in the Toronto Star.

The newspaper reports that the entire voice cast has just signed a new contract with Fox after weeks of intense salary negotiations, the newspaper reported:

As late as last week, the network was threatening to replace the original voices of Matt Groening's cult-hit cartoon, to the point of actually announcing a casting call for voice actors to replace them.

The compromise agreement, with the studio paying more and the actors accepting less, comes after the announcement of a 26-episode pick-up here by Comedy Central.

At last week's Comic-Con, the actors and producers downplayed the reports of recasting, saying that they figured things would work out. Looks like they were right. There's been no official confirmation yet from any of the parties, but it looks like Fry, Leela and Bender will keep their voices for now.

Coooooool! I Want A Vortex Cannon!!!

After playing with some extremely enjoyable Nerf guns with the family over the last two days I came across this Youtube video of a home made Vortex Cannon which was featured on the BBC's 'Bang Goes The Theory'. The goal was to use the cannon to recreate the Big Bad Wolf's huffing and puffing from Three Little Pigs...

As you'll see the vortex rings do their job impeccably... Watch out little pigs, your houses made of brick may have defeated the Big Bad Wold but they ain't diddly squat against this sucker!
