The Rocketeer being remade?
Disney has decided that the success of it's Iron Man and Avengers movies has provided a need for Iron-clad flying heroes at the box office and they've recently green-lit a remake of one of my favourite movies as a kid... The Rocketeer!
The early 1980s comic, set in the 1930s-40s, focuses on racing pilot Cliff Secord, who discovers a rocket jetpack suit and goes on to fight bad guys.
A film version was already made in 1991 starring Billy Campbell, Timothy Dalton and Jennifer Connelly, though it famously flopped at the time. But nostalgia has served it well, and The Rocketeer has developed a cult following over the last two decades.
No writer, director or casting news has been announced, but Vulture reports that the project is moving forward sooner rather than later. Captain America has already proven that period-set hero flicks can work, so it may be the perfect time to give Cliff another shot. Woo hoo!
Jim Carrey signs on for Kick Ass 2?
Yes it's true, Jim Carrey has signed on to play "Colonel Stars" in the Kick Ass sequel "To the Wall" which is due to be released around June 2013 which will also be starring Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, Morris Chestnut, and Robert Emms.
Can't wait!
Iron Man 3's new suit "Mark XLVII" will be controlling multiple Iron Man armours?
It's being reported via Latinoreview.com that the Extremis-enhanced bad guys under direction of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin villain in Iron Man 3 are going to be too much for Tony to handle on his own, so he thinks ahead, thinks big and has a plan. Tony’s about to go out and fight some bad guys when he mentions the Mark XLVII to Pepper Potts. Pepper asks what happened to the other forty and Tony just smiles.
"From the cockpit of Mark XLVII Tony is able to control multiple armours in battle. We over here at LR have been vaguely aware of an action scene where Tony was going to control multiple Iron Man suits (presumably they look similar to distract his enemies as to the location of kill-able Iron Man Prime), but the number 40 seems…awesome. 40 Iron Men.”
Sony Pictures Developing CGI/Live-action ALF movie?
I think you#d have to be around my age to remember who or what the hell ALF was... The classic 80's sitcom gained a cult following and even had one or two post-series TV movies, but now Sony Pictures are looking to bring ALF back to the big screen which will be produced by The Smurfs' Jordan Kerner along with Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco (Fusco was the voice of ALF in the original show).
For those not in the know, Alf ran from 1986 to 1990 and lasted 102 episodes. It focused on a friendly -- aside from his penchant for eating cats -- little alien named Gordon Shumway who lands on Earth and winds up staying with the Tanner family. No writer or director is attached to the project yet.
