Variety reports that actor Guy Pearce (Lockout) is in final talks to star along side Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man III, which will be directed by Shane Black. Pearce is said to play the character of geneticist Aldrich Killian, who in the comics helped create the Extremis. The 3rd Iron Man movie is said to be loosely based on the Warren Ellis’ six-issue Iron Man Extremis storyline that introduced nanotechnology to Stark’s technologies, and a threat based within a nanotech virus. Sir Ben Kingsly has also been recently reported to be in final talks to star in the movie as well. He is said to play a villain character who spreads the nanobot virus. Many fans had hopped Kingsly would be playing Iron Man's arch villain the Mandarin, but that is seeming less and less likely.
Iron Man 3 is slated to begin shooting in North Carolina next month, and will see release in theaters on May 3rd 2013
