The Clone Wars - The Return Of Darth Maul...

Arguably one of the best characters in the whole of the Star Wars prequel trilogy movies, visually if nothing else, it was a huge shame that Darth Maul ended up getting killed before his time...

Like Boba Fett however Darth Maul is making an almost inconceivable return to the Star Wars universe (having already been revived in the comics) on The Clone Wars animated TV show.

From UGO.com:

According to USA Today, General Grievous is invading Darth Maul's home planet, Dathomir, and Maul's brother, Savage Opress, is determined to find his missing sibling. During this madness, Count Dooku is attempting to kill his former ally, Asajj Ventress, and the Nightsisters.

Star Wars fans will recognize Maul's voice almost immediately. Sam Witwer, the voice actor for Starkiller in The Force Unleashed games, is taking the role of Maul and putting a whole lot of passion into it.

Fans skeptical over Maul returning should have faith in Clone Wars director Dave Filoni. He says bringing the famous Dathomirian Zabrak wasn't something they took lightly. "To go through all the trouble and believability to bring this character back, it would be a shame if it was once again a short-lived thing. A lot of effort went into the resurrection of Darth Maul, and I'm going to make it worthwhile for the fans, that's for sure."

Darth Maul has returned a few times in the comic books, and just like in some of those instances, the warrior is now sporting mechanical legs. Will he finally get revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi? To find out, be sure to tune into Cartoon Network at 8pm EST every Friday.
