Linda Hamilton To Play Chuck's Mum & More Chuck News!

As with Supernatural I watched all 3 seasons of Chuck in the last few months and got an unhealthy addiction to the show for my trouble.

The fact that there's a fourth season and that the pretty awesome cliffhanger of season 3 didn't get the Sarah Connor Chronicles treatment (being cancelled) is good news enough, but then we find out that none other than original Sarah Connor herself Linda Hamilton is playing Chuck's Mum and we're all a darn site happier.

Mama Bartowski was seen in the shadows at the end of season 3 but now we have images of her including one where she's looking quite at home with a gun in her hand.

Add to this news that geek-goddess Olivia Munn is appearing as CIA operative "Greta", Chuck is a civilian again and Chuck's also had a drastic haircut and we're all now info'd out!

Skyline - New Cool Looking Alien Invasion Movie - Trailer & Poster

Ya just gotta love alien invasion movies and the upcoming 'Skyline' is one of the newer ones that looks pretty frickin sweet. OK so it's made by the two brothers that did Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem but still you can't deny that just from this trailer (especially watching the humans getting sucked up a super Dyson ship) you want to see this film!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 3 Preview Trailer

I really do like Star Wars: The Clone Wars (so much so that I'm having a Gentle Giant life-size Captain Rex in my shop next month) and even though I've not kept up with every episode of season 2 I was pleased to find out that season 3 was just around the corner.

Here's the preview:

Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D - 'Albert Wesker' Clip

Will this new Resi movie be any good? Probably not... Will I enjoy it nonetheless? Probably...

Here's a very short scene where we see Albert Wesker in action.

Jackass 3-D - Teaser Trailer

Personally I'm more of a fan of 'Dirty Sanchez' which I regularly watch on MTV but Sanchez wouldn't have even been a brain fart without the original Jackass crew...

Here the Jackass boys are not only releasing a new movie but it's in 3-D! I have to admit that this does look funny and that last scene with the high five makes me smile.

Quantum Leap The Movie? Oh Boy!

Sorry for the title to this post but Quantum Leap fans will get the in joke...

I say this a hell of a lot on here but Quantum Leap was yet another show I grew up on in the early 90's when I was roughly 10 - 11 years old and I loved it to its core. There was nothing that made me happier when sitting down to watch TV during meal times (apart from maybe Rolf's Cartoon Club before Neighbours murdered its time slot) than watching the time leaping adventures of Sam and Al with each engrossing episode giving you that weekly cliffhanger ending in the "Oh Boy!" moment.

So as you can guess I was totally ecstatic to find out that Quantum Leap is being turned into a big screen movie... But unfortunately Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell (Sam and Al) will probably only appear in cameos or at least minor roles due to their age. Probably not unlike the new Tron film it'll be a generation hand-me-down movie where a new Leaper takes over from where Sam left off. Although how many leaps one movie can cope with is obviously a question if we don't want to simply see another Back to the Future movie.

We'll have to see what happens.

Supernatural: The Animation - Official Trailer

Having recently become a true devotee to Supernatural (the missus and I have watched 4 seasons so far in less than 2 months) I have to admit to liking anything I hear about new seasons (yay to season 6!) and the recent news of an anime tv series... Yes that's correct, if you hadn't heard already Warner Bros. and Madhouse will release Supernatural: The Animation in Jan 2011 and here's the trailer:

The Avengers Movie - Teaser Trailer

Admit it, if you're a Marvel geek even this short and rather vacant teaser for the 2012 Avengers movie, with Samuel L Jackson doing the voice over, will give you goosebumps...

We know it made the SDCC audience go totally crazy! And below is the pic of the main Avengers cast that appeared on stage.

Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote 3D - Trailer

Yep that's right, not only will we be subjected to Yogi Bear in 3-D in the not too distant future but now Road Runner and his hapless predator Wile E. Coyote will star in their own big screen outing too... Except in this case it's only in the form of shorts which will be attached to 3 upcoming movies. Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, The Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole and then Yogi Bear 3-D.

Here's a trailer below:

Dr. Who Confirmed For 13 New Episodes In 2011

Even though the British tabloids stated Matt Smith was leaving the Who franchise already and that a new Doctor was being searched for as we speak it would seem that the BBC recently debunked the rumour and stated that 13 new episodes will air next year with Matt at the helm.

Bloody pleased to hear it too!

Green Lantern Movie Goodness...

During SDCC this July Green Lantern got a hell of a lot of focus, and quite rightly so, with numerous posters, pictures, props and videos going up almost every hour from the con floor...

Below are a few things that may take your fancy including Ryan Reynolds reciting the Oath to some lucky kid (love the bit where he shows the kid he's also wearing a ring), Abin Sur's body, the new characters posters and of course the official logo.

New Torchwood Character Info Revealed...

Already thrilled that another season of Torchwood is underway? Well here's some info on the new characters being introduced too:

First up is series regular Rex Matheson, a wickedly funny (operative word: wicked) CIA agent born to make waves. Almost as key to the new season are recurring characters Esther Katusi, a CIA grunt in her early 20s who learns what she's really made of only when she's forced to, and Oswald Jones, a convicted murderer and pedophile who will be as shocked as anyone to learn how easily infamy and fame can be exchanged for one another.

And here's the synopsis:

When C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy, he finds himself unearthing a threat which challenges the entire human race.
The answers seem to lie within an old, secret British institute, known only as Torchwood. But Torchwood was destroyed, years ago, and the keys to the institute are held by its only two survivors—former Police Officer Gwen Cooper, who has long since disappeared along with her husband and child, and the mysterious Captain Jack Harkness, a man whose history seems to stretch back centuries.

With Rex under attack from all sides, in both the US and the UK, he soon discovers there are forces at work within every level of society, determined to stop Torchwood's return. As a chain of events across the world links together the most disparate and unlikely individuals—including a surgeon, a killer, senators and CEOs—a new Torchwood team takes shape. But this time, the threat is much closer to home, as they realize that their greatest enemy is mankind itself ...

I can't say that the last character on the description list is anything to get excited about, but then when did Torchwood pull any punches? Exactly. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end and give us at least one more season of one of sci-fi's greatest shows.

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions - Opening Cnematic Video

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions is a game I really looking forward to and having played every Spidey game ever released I can safely say this will be a purchase I won't regret.

This video below shows the opening cinematic where Spidey accidentally shatters the ancient Tablet of Order and Chaos during a confrontation with Mysterio in the halls of Empire State University...

Enjoy!

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes! - New Trailer

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes! comes to Disney XD this year and although the visuals currently don't touch DC in terms of quality animation and character re-design it still looks like a great comic cartoon with all your favourite Avengers characters present and accounted for.

Here's the trailer:

DC Young Justice Cartoon - Character Video

SDCC 2010 showcased a lot of new programmes and movies but one of the new shows that whetted my appetite considerably was "Young Justice".

DC's teen team has crisp animation, all the characters you want to see (OK so we would have loved Wonder Girl/ Donna Troy) and some awesome looking action. I'm a huge fan of the Justice League cartoons and the animated movies and I can't wait to see Young Justice when it finally airs.

Stargate Universe/Stargate Atlantis Crossover Coming Soon!

Yep that's right, as if to say "ha-ha SGU haters, we're shoving Atlantis characters in so you have to watch us!"executive producer Joseph Mallozzi confirmed recently that Stargate Universe will feature a Stargate Atlantis crossover episode very soon which will star "extra special guest stars".

He hasn't confirmed who just yet but I'm thinking Rodney McKay and John Sheppard are the most likely at this point. Although even seeing Teyla, Ronon or Carson would be cool. It'll be great to see any of the characters from Atlantis in any form and if they give us any news on what they've been up to since the last episode all the better.

One thing Mallozzi did say that might excite Atlantis fans was that the Stargate Atlantis movie "Extinction" is delayed but not forgotten...

Gatchaman - Teaser 2 (Shame It's Not Being Made!)

Gatchaman ('Battle of the Planets' to some) was yet another show I was brought up on as a kid and even though the studio who pitched this awesome CG movie has now disintegrated the trailers still make this "could-have-been" movie look great. And this 2nd teaser is something I hadn't seen before too.

Smallville Season 10 Teaser Trailer From SDCC

Two months late in posting but another trailer to put geeky tears of joy in my eye back in July was the short but quite spoiler-filled SDCC Smallville Season 10 teaser. Courtesy of Smallville-redblueblur.blogspot.com below is a cam copy of said trailer which starts off recapping season 9 and then jumps into season 10 goodness.

If you didn't notice in the trailer, how could you not, you'll find the return of 3 major characters: Kara Kent (Supergirl) Lionel Luthor and Jonathan Kent... And yes the last two are indeed dead. Or are they?

Enjoy!

DC Universe Online "Who Do You Trust" Trailer = AWESOME!

I have to admit to completely and utterly geeking out to this video for the upcoming DC Universe Online game recently, even going as far as to have tears in my eyes when you first see Alternate-Superman and then when the whole thing was finished to scream for the missus to sit and watch the whole thing... Oh and the kids... Twice.

Let's just say I love this video and it just reiterates my point about video game companies doing better quality video productions than the companies that deal with the actual DVD or movie releases. These guys know how to put on a show!

Star Wars Cupcakes...

I'll always remember when my colleague Tim (our first Emerald Knight on this blog) brought in a batch of Wookie Cookies and Wonder Woman cookies for the staff at work one day. Simple yet very effective for us geeks. And a while ago I found this pic online of some awesome cupcakes in the numerous visage's of Star Wars character faces. Awesome stuff, I'll have to the missus to whip up a batch for the opening of Red Sun next month!

Anna Chlumsky All Grown Up...

Remember the movie 'My Girl'? The one with Macaulay Culkin where he gets stung by a load of bees and... well, you'll know the rest if you've seen it. Anyway, back to my point: Remember Macaulay's little female friend 'Vada' played by Anna Chlumsky? Well Anna is now 29 and all grown up. It shocks me when I see kids from movies all grown up and remember that actors actually age too!

Disney's Tangled - New Poster

More for my two girls than me, but still 'Tangled' is a new Disney movie which doesn't look altogether too bad.

Here's the teaser poster.

Yogi Bear 3-D Trailer And Poster

I don't have much to say about the new Yogi Bear 3-D movie... Yogi and Boo Boo are a part of my childhood and I still have a Yogi action figure on one of my shelves right now, but this mix of live action and CGI just seems like another US classic cartoon cash-in that will go horribly wrong. Don't believe me? Watch the trailer and know that Yogi is voiced by Dan Aykroyd and Boo Boo by Justin Timberlake. Yep, y'heard me right.

Enjoy!

Thor Movie Trailer... Yes I know It's Late...

Having had an abscence on here for almost two months I thought I'd start again by posting what was possibly the biggest piece of comic book movie greatness in recent months... The Thor movie trailer.

Now this trailer has been posted up and taken down so many times since it first aired online that I simply downloaded it and I'm posting it up myself using blogger.com's own video uploading option so it stays up (even if it's now freely available online somewhere else), so apologies if the quality is crap or the size too small, or even if it gets taken down after I've posted it. If you're a Marvel/Marvel movie fan this trailer is a thing of beauty. There are questions after watching it of course, but the pros of the 5+ minutes outweigh any negatives!

While we're at it other Thor movie news states that Anthony Hopkins' role of Asgardian All Father 'Odin' may be larger than just this movie with his status being upped to the largest and most predominent God in the Marvel universe... Even though he seemingly dies in the Thor movie...

Rumours also say that various powerful artifacts such as the Infinity Gauntlet, The Cosmic Cube and The Casket of Ancient Winters will also appear (confirmed through footage and prop displays during SDCC'10), some of which may feature as the main Mcguffin/s in the Avengers movie in 2012 and even featuring in Captain America: The First Avenger where The Red Skull tracks down the Cosmic Cube held within Odin's own collection in Asgard.

Looking good Marvel, looking very good.

SCOTT PILGRIM Vs THE CRITICS!!!!

It's taken me a while to digest SCOTT PILGRIM Vs THE WORLD, but I thought now was the time to post a review/thoughts on the movie.

If you've seen the movie already then you'll know what I mean when I saw it's a brilliant but confusing and psychedelic movie. It has flashes of brilliance and epic moments, but also has some WTF moments as well.

I loved the idea of the movie from seeing the trailer. I had heard of the graphic novel but never really read it, but from the first trailer I was hooked. Micheal Cera seemed like the ideal choice for the slacker/hero that is Scott Pilgrim, and Mary Elizabeth-winstead is truely hot and cool as Ramona Flowers should be.

DID THE MOVIE LIVE UP TO THE HYPE?

Well.....yes and no. The first half hour was awesome and was funny and the last 45 minutes were really good.....it was just the middle 20-30 minutes that was a bit lack luster and washed out. The pace just dropped out of the movie and it let down the flow of the movie, but don't let this put you off.

The pop culture references were spot on, most of the evil ex boyfriends were funny and well cast (brandon routh is probably my fav) and the fight scenes were well shot and looked awesome. Micheal Cera had moments of brilliance as SCOTT although he sometimes comes across as too much of a geek.........Scott is also supposed to be cool which Cera isn't always capable of.

Scott's sister is very underused but it a superbitch and very funny when she is on screen. Actress Anna Kendrick is beautiful and almost outshines Mary Elizabeth-winstead....but not quite.

Although this hasn't set the box office on fire, I hope that the low budget (not that it shows) and the DVD sales will push it towards a sequel. It's a great cast, good story.....just look at the positives and forgive the little "issues".

Go see this movie!!!! It's awesome.....for the most part..........hey, no ones perfect!!!

CROSSED - PUTTING THE GRAPHIC BACK INTO GRAPHIC NOVEL!!

THIS IS NOT FOR THE FEINT OF HEART!!!!

I saw this comic in a book shop and caught the blurb on the back cover....sounded really good. It was a new slant on the zombie/end-of-the-world/human struggle for survival story. An infection started and quickly spreads around the country (possibly the globe) and causes people to act out their most perverse and sick thoughts.....it also causes a cross shaped mark on their faces....hence them being called THE CROSSED.

The story follows a band of survivors that increases and falls in numbers as they travel around the country (America) looking for safety from the crossed. At first the crossed appear to be animals, consumed by their evil lusts for violence and sadism.........but as the story goes on they become more focused and start to hunt the survivors and become more intelligent.

As with THE WALKING DEAD the book focuses on what our survivors will do to ultimately survive as well as the evil which drives the crossed. Our survivors become hard pressed not to become as bad as the crossed, and their limits are pushed to stay human whilst surviving in a world that has become a breeding ground for the plague causing the crossed.

Let me first of all point out to anyone reading this....THE IS A VERY GRAPHIC BOOK WHICH EVEN I FOUND HARD TO READ AT POINTS.....there are children dying, torture and other things which illustrate just how base the crossed are. I would say that at times the violence is over used, but it really pushes the story forward towards a sad but powerful conclusion to the first volume of the story.

This is a great read, but definitely an adults only book. Keep this on a high shelf and out of reach of the kids...........but whatever you do, don't miss it.

Volume 2 is already in the works, and I will be getting it.....a compelling read if you can stomach the violence.

HAVE A VERY ZOMBIE FILLED HALLOWEEN

SO AMC have announced that THE WALKING DEAD will start it's 6 episode run on Halloween (Us Brits will just have to wait for FX to air it, or catch a streamed episode thanks to some nice American!!) I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS.

Here's a embed for the trailer so you can make up your own mind and see what you think.

I wasn't sure what to make of it in colour to start with.........bearing in mind some of the scenes are pretty spot on for the comic, it was just weird in colour. I am however looking forward to seeing this....albeit in a very short first season.

Season 2 is supposed to be greenlit already, and for an extended run too!!! I don't think we'll see it as soon as Feb 2011 (as posted on some other sites!!) Ratings and filming breaks and other factors will most certainly delay it.

I guess you can't rush perfection....I'd rather wait for a few months for some quality TV rather than seeing some rushed, half assed rubbish.

I cant' wait to see how Rick gets outta the zombie covered tank!!!!!

Sorry For The Lack Of Posts... There's A Good Reason!

Hey guys... Sincere apologies for the lack of posts from me over the last month or two. You may or may not be aware that I'm opening up a big comic and collectable store in my home town in October ("Red Sun Comics & Collectables") and every minute of every day is being spent on making this place so kick-ass it'll make every geek cry with joy as they step foot through the door!

I have soooooo many posts waiting to go up it's unreal and it's actually slowed my home computer down to a deathly crawl, with the screen occasionally telling me off with messages that my memory is low due to all the open web pages! I really need a free day or two to get down to some serious blogging!

Once the store is sorted not only will I post up info and pics galore but the blog will hopefully become a big part of the shop community with our staff posting and our customers reading, and I'll be posting myself almost every day when we're not so busy. Much more than I currently do.

So for now I say thanks for your patience and I'll be back very soon!

ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?

I certainly didn't see anything about this movie on any movie sites, but i sure wish I had.......it looks awesome.

VANISHING ON 7TH STREET looks set to be a sh*t scary horror-fest crossed with some survival horror. The basic plot is as follows:

upon waking to find the city they live in devoid of human life, a group of survivors seek refuge in an old bar to protect themselves from a dark threat.

With a decent cast - Thandie Newton (hot!!!) Hayden Christensen (Sith) and John Leguizamo (Luigi) - this should be a cool, scary and apocalyptic movie.

Check out the trailer and see why you should fear the dark.

THE LOSERS Vs THE A TEAM

Have the you seen these movies yet? No? Shame on you............go see them now ( or do the naughty and check them out online!!!! Not that I'm saying that's ok or anything!!)

I've heard a lot of negative reviews for both these movies, but I love both of them in their own special ways..........although I have a clear favourite, which I will explain as I rant my way through a review.

where oh where do I start the review..........Ok, I'll start with familiar ground with the A TEAM's first big screen adaption. I loved this for the nostalgia value and down to the fact that it was pure Saturday morning fun that I grew up with. All the regulars are there (minus Col Decker....must be hanging back for the sequel!) and there are more than enough nods to give it the feel of the original series, while bringing it up to date with new tech and a new war for the A TEAM to fight.

Now is it all a bed of roses, and a masterpiece from start to finish? No, it has it's faults but they're nothing that stop it from being a decent action movie. So what is wrong with it? It suffers from trying too hard to be the original series, and it doesn't translate to the screen very well............I hate to say it, but Rampage Jackson (BA) just doesn't cut the mustard for me. It shows that he isn't an actor with a lot of skill and sometimes his performance is flat and forced......that said, he does shine every now and again and steals a few scenes from the other lead actors.

The humour in the movie sometimes undoes the action scenes and makes what could be a thumping action sequence into a farce. Liam Neeson is a very good Hannibal, Bradley Cooper does Face very well (although again, some of his hysterical laughing during scenes shredded the cool performance that he gives throughout most of the movie).............I must say that the standout performance is Sharlto Copley; his Murdoch is awesome and has as much energy and madness as the original. The other issue that everyone seemed to raise about the casting was Jessica Biel.....now I didn't find her acting that bad, and she certainly added some sex to the movie. What I did see was that the role wasn't needed really, and could have been cut out and the film would have been just as good. Maybe with the sequel they'll have her in a decent role within the story, and have her giving some sex and style to the story.

Is it a classic? As a fan I'll say no, but it wasn't a disaster and will grace my DVD/BLURAY collection when it's released.....Rock on a sequel.

7/10

On to the next bunch of rouge military operatives.......THE LOSERS.

This is very similar to THE A TEAM is the fact they're framed for a crime they didn't commit and decide to try and clear their names by using their skills and lots and lots of guns and explosives!!!

The cast are cool as f*ck and we have Captain America (Chris Evans) Uhura (Zoe Saldana) The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) Heimdell (Idris Elba is playing Heimdell in THOR in 2011!! and is a very cool British actor!!! Check out short lived vampire series ULTRAVIOLET for proof!!!) Columbus Short and Oscar Jaenda also star and play very cool characters POOCH and COUGAR.........haven't seen too much with them in, but i'm sure the horizon will open after their ultra cool performances in this movie.

Now I have read the first 2 graphic novels and this has a lot of scenes that are almost translated straight from page to screen......and they come across really well. The story is basic but very slick and cool, and is almost the A TEAM combined with OCEANS ELEVEN...........but I think the performances of EVANS, SALDANA and MORGAN made this movie my favourite out of the and THE A TEAM.

The only down side it that they tried to cram 2-3 volumes of the graphic novels into one movie and had to cut some of the cooler parts out of the movie all together. The big bad guy "MAX" is a little too comedy for my liking and does seem like a idiot sometimes that it almost becomes hard to believe that he is the mastermind behind WMD'S that can destroy islands.

Is it perfect..........again, no it's not but it does shine as a quality action movie with enough well balanced humor and action to give it a well deserved place in anyone's DVD collection. Even if the movie doesn't get a sequel, at least we can still check out their comic adventures and get some more LOSERS in our life........I will love a sequel and will keep you posted if I hear anything.

7.5/10

For me it's THE LOSERS......but only just. They are both great movies and shine in their own ways......give them a chance and make up your own minds. Sometimes the critics expect too much of popcorn movies, and they find it hard to sit down and enjoy a movie for what it is.

If you wanna appreciate these movies, just watch them after CLASH OF THE TITANS......you'll appreciate them more and more..........mainly cause CLASH is a massive pile of SH*T and could even make the worst action movie look like HAMLET!!!!!

I know everyones going to have their own opinion about these movies......frankly I don't care cause I think they're ace!!!!!
