Yep, unfortunately even though the initial rumour I read today of our own David Tennant maybe being up for the role of Bruce Banner in the new Avengers movie it would now seem that Mark Ruffalo of all people is now in final negotiations instead.
It's an unconfirmed semi-rumour so don't take it as fact just yet, but we could be looking at the new addition to the 2012 comic wonder movie right now... Meh... I'd be more blown away by a gnat fart at the moment... No offence Markey boy.
If I was on this tube/subway car and these guys started doing this in front of me I would seriously chuck myself head first out of the nearest available window... Not kidding, I'm a super-geek, nay "GEEK-GOD", but hell, if this happened in front of me and I had nowhere to go I'd cringe into the size of a Coke can in my seat with embarrassment.
The passengers looked like they enjoyed the show though!
Here's a new Tron Legacy billboard pic of Garrett Hedlund in a sort of disc-throwing-battle-stance in his cool Tron style costume. December 2010 can't come quick enough!
Elizabeth Banks... Ahhh Elizabeth Banks... Oh how I love Elizabeth Banksssssssss.........
OK I'm awake... Oh yeah, that's it. News from Variety states that Disney studios and Miss Banks' own production company will join forces very soon to bring "Tink" (better known as Tinkerbell from Peter Pan) to the big screen in her own live-action movie.
The only news apart from Elizabeth's involvement so far is that the film will center around Tink's "mischievous nature" and will no doubt be not unlike the 2007 movie "Enchanted".
Personally I can't get enough of Elizabeth Banks (if you hadn't noticed) and I think that she'll be perfect for the role that has so far only been realised on screen and in movies through cell and CGI animation. My kids will love the film... and of course so will I!!!
News on the web states that the upcoming Dr.Who Christmas special will feature both a honeymoon (obviously Amy and Rory's) and none other than Dumbledore himself - Michael Gambon.
Now the rumours are saying that as it's a Christmas special and the Doctor is sure to give the happy couple a unique and amazing honeymoon trip in the Tardis one can only come to the rapid (and maybe way off) conclusion that Gambon may well be playing Santa Claus and the honeymoon may be at the North Pole (no doubt where some nefarious alien is trying to thwart Christmas etc). It's just a rumour of course and Gambon could just be some random old guy who's part of the story, but I like the other idea!
I also like the news that classical diva (and unbelievably stunning blonde) Katherine Jenkins will also be a guest star and will be singing Christmas carols during the show.
Although all three look like rejects from a World of Warcraftcosplay convention this new pic of Thor, Odin and Loki looks pretty cool. OK so we're missing Thor's winged helmet and Loki's horned helmet (which I'm sure they could've added to the movie without them looking stupid) but all in all it's a bright and striking image which brings a little hope to my heart that Thor might not suck... "Might" being the operative word...
So here it is Walking Dead fans, the first official pic of the main cast for AMC's zombie comic adaptation tv series.
I'm totally hyped for this new show and after hearing that its presence at SDCC later this month will be substantial I'm getting even more excited for its October air date! It's gonna knock'em dead! (pun intended).
I don't like it... That's pretty much all I want to say about Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan/Green Lantern costume that's been featured on the new Comic Con special Entertainment Weekly magazine cover this month. I'm going to mope in a corner for a few hours now...
Yes it's all CGI (and it looks as much), but why the horrible ribbing and terrible looking mask? He looks like a giant green ribbed Trojan condom for Gods sake! Give me the old green, black and white lycra/spandex anyday...
I came across this video the other day and it intrigued me.
It's a whole bunch of human beings doing some amazing stuff, with serious skills, simply because they've trained themselves to do so. There's at least one in there I know is fake (the guy riding the chain), but the rest are real and you can tell. It's a wicked watch for people who like this kind of stuff... Like me!
The trailer pretty much explains everything you need to know about this comic book adaptation movie (I can't be bothered at this point as I've been blogging all day!).
I've never heard of the comic and the movie seems a bit weird, but any movie which sees Helen Mirrenwielding a 50. cal machine gun is fine by me...
Having watched the "Batman: Under The Red Hood" animated movie last night (yes it was online) I have to say that I was a little dissapointed. Only a little mind you.
It was good, don't get me wrong, but there were a lot of little niggles that for a movie and comic fan like myself just accumulated into a mediocre DC outing.
I liked the voice work from Jensen Ackles as Red Hood, Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing and didn't think that John Di Maggio did a bad job of the Joker either (even though the character himself seemed a bit too big and manly based on what we've seen before). I wasn't completely sold on Bruce Greenwood's Batman but then I'm a Kevin Conroy fanatic so there's no pleasing me when they change Batman's voice actor!
The animation was a little strange, sometimes looking undercooked, a little rushed and too much like an amateur anime release in parts, but then action sequences were great, the flashback scenes were nicely done and the story wasn't too terrible or difficult to follow. The inclusion of various characters like Black Mask, Amazo, The Riddler and more were OK and added to the DC Universe vibe, but I couldn't help but feel like I wanted another superhero from the League to appear rather than keeping it in the Bat-Family. I'm not really used to Bat-Family only movies and I'm much happier when watching Supes, Flash, GL, WW and others all together. Plus Nightwing needed longer hair for me to relate to him... Little thing, but it bugged me, as I know it did with other online reviewers.
I will warn you of one thing though - This is in no way or form a movie you should let your kids watch. There was a ton of pretty visceral violence, blood and gore that we haven't seen in previous DC animated outings. OK so we've seen Wonder Woman lob of a head or two in her movie and there have always been deaths here and there in the others, but this one is pretty sick in parts... Great for desensitised adults like myself but I wouldn't let my girls watch this like they have with other films. Be warned!
Here are two video clips to get those of you who haven't seen this yet in the mood!
Last week scifiwire.com posted up some information on the new Men in Black III movie which they managed to swipe off of joblo.com who managed to swipe the info from the actual script...
So here goes, spoilers ahead:
Will Smith will be traveling through time.
To stop a dastardly villain named Yaz (more about him later) from destroying the world, Agent Jay will go back to 1969 where he'll team with a young Kay.
The big bad will be a cross between Dennis Hopper and Satan.
Flight of the Conchord'sJemaine Clement won't get to show off his funny side as Yaz. In this role, he'll be the straight man, since he'll need to come across as a violent "badass hell biker."
Apple is even more important than we know.
Not only will a secret time-travel hub be housed inside an Apple Store, but one way to travel into the past turns out to be by shaking an iPhone's clock app.
More celebrities will be revealed as aliens.
A new film means new celebrities unmasked—Jimi Hendrix, Castro, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Yoko Ono, Andy Warhol and more.
The 2010 San Diego Comic Con is almost upon us so keep a watch out for a huge influx of posters, trailers and information on upcoming entertainment franchises...
For now here's the promotional poster for The Walking Dead, a series I'm really, really, looking forward to!
Having just posted up the news that Superman/Batman: Apocalypse is going to be the next DC animated movie (and let's not forget Batman: Year One) I then found out just now that the new Green Lantern animated feature has been revealed and it's called "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights".
The newest GL animation should be set for release around the same time as Martin Campbell's live-action feature film.
Although the storyline hasn't been revealed yet the title is the same as a six-issue comic series written by Ron Marz and Chuck Dixon, and later collected in trade paperback format. The story for that is:
"When a young Hal Jordan is thrust forward in time, Kyle Rayner, the current Green Lantern, finds himself face to face with his legendary predecessor. Working together for the first and only time, the two Green Lanterns must find a way to defeat Sinestro and the villain that Hal is destined to one day become, Parallax. Joined by the JLA and Green Arrow in this adventure, Kyle must not only find away to defeat his enemies but also decide if his actions in the present will prevent Hal from going insane and killing many of the Green Lantern Corps in the past, or only make things worse."
Whether the movie follows the comic series remains to be seen but it sounds a little complicated for the next animated movie... Even though things like this happened a lot in the Justice League cartoon series!
It's a bad bit of news for Marvel fans looking forward to the 2012 Avengers movie but unfortunately Edward Norton, the actor who played Bruce Banner in the 2008 movie, has been released/dumped in favour of a new actor...
Fans who were completely psyched to originally hear that Norton was happy to reprise his role in the upcoming mega-movie "Avengers" alongside Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Chris Evan's Captain America will now have to wait and see exactly who Marvel choose as a replacement. Rumours recently point towards JoaquinPhoenix although I personally find that a bit far fetched.
This is the release Ed Norton sent out recently via his Facebook page:
As most of you know, I don't like to talk much about the business of making movies because it means a lot to me to protect the audience's fullest enjoyment of the 'magic' that films can have. But I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans of the Hulk and the Avengers that I feel it would be rude not to respond. So here goes: It seems it won't work out for me to continue playing Bruce Banner for Marvel in "The Avengers." I sincerely hoped it could happen and be great for everyone but it hasn't turned out as we all hoped. I know this is disappointing to many people and that makes me sad. But I am very sincerely grateful to Marvel for extending the offer and even more so for giving me the chance to be a part of the Hulk's long and excellent history. And I really can't thank the fans enough for how much enthusiasm you've sent me way about what Louis and I tried to do in our turn with the legend. It means a lot to me. I grew up with Banner and Hulk and have been a fan of every incarnation. I'm really proud, and very blessed, to have been one of them and will be thrilled to see him live on through other actors. Hulk is bigger than all of us, that's why we love him, right?
Transformers G1 fans unite... Michael Bay has decided to give fans a little extra nod with the secret (not secret anymore) inclusion of Optimus Prime's trailer... You remember the original 80's toy that had the trailer on the back of Prime's truck which opened up and had a little blue vehicle and arm thingy etc comic out of it? Well looks like it's been included, hopefully with a purpose seeing as he hasn't had one in the previous two movies.
The only way anyone knows this so far is with this bad quality video of an on-set scene shot by a passer by/fan.
Machete is a new Danny Trejo movie co-directed by both Robert Rodriguez and his long-time editor Ethan Maniquis as his very first directorial debut. The screenplay was written by Robert Rodriguez and is an expanded version of the "fake" Machete trailer Rodriguez made for the release of Grindhouse in 2007.
This trailer is pretty frickin awesome and not only features a whole cast of famous faces and over the top action sequences but also Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez in bikini's... It's gonna be great!!!
We've seen some awesome Lego stop motion videos in the past but this one is certainly one of the top 3 best of the bunch. A video of one kick-ass Lego dude having a huge street shootout with various enemies, it's seriously fun and the facial expressions were a highlight for me!
Supposedly the latest issue of Total Film magazine has Kelly Brook posing in the Princess Leia Gold Bikini from Return of the Jedi, except that the skimpy outfit she's wearing looks nothing like the original gold bikini... Rip off!!!
Nonetheless Miss Brook is one of my favourite ladies of all time and any chance to pop up a pic of her is a treat... so here she is.
The Japanese have produced a new movie titled "Alien vs Ninja" which features exactly what it says on the tin. An alien, or aliens, vs a bunch of ninjas... It's one of those movies that looks sooooo bad it could be awesome!
One of the most hotly anticipated testosterone fuelled action movies of all time "The Expendables" has a new poster and a new fan trailer... The fan trailer is pretty awesome stuff and sends out a "call to arms" for all men to head to the cinema and watch this manly movie and forget about all the feminine crap we've been subjected to over the last year (Sex and the City 2 anyone?).
Here you go film-fans. A video that joins the 100 greatest movie insults of all time into one continuous NSFW, smile-inducing, 10 minute barrage on the ear drums... I love the fact that I know pretty much every movie these quotes are from!
Oh, did I mention it's NSFW (not safe for work)? Take heed...
Smallville season 10 is set to be the biggest, and the last. With rumours coming from everywhere about what's going to happen and who we'll see (and of course whether or not Tom Welling will don the red and blues and take to the skies by the final episode) it's good to find some solid info about two major cast members making a return for the swan-song season.
It's been confirmed that not only will John Schneider (Clark's adoptive father Jonathan Kent) reprise his role in at least one episode (I gather as a flashback as he died in season 5...) but every Superman fanboy's wet dream Laura Vandervoort is coming back as Supergirl (Kara Kent) too.
Yes it's true, even though Laura was due to return as Supergirl for season 9 (confirmed by the previous years Comic Con trailer) it seemed that her role on "V" prevented that from happening. Now that season 10 has been green lit and confirmed as the final season Warner Bros (who produce both Smallville and V) have allowed her to cameo in one or more episodes. Bloody good news!
After a huge amount of Spidey casting news that I read but didn't post about recently it seems that Sony and director Marc Webb have finally found their Peter Parker... Andrew Garfield.
To be honest I've never hear of him or seen anything he's been in, I haven't even checked IMDB because I don't really care, anyone should be better than Tobey Maguire so I'm sure Andrew will be fine!
In other casting news for Spidey - news hit the web (no pun intended) this week that Anton Yelchin may be in line to play Harry Osborn and Russian born model and actress Elena Satine may play Mary Jane. Again to be honest they can't be any worse than the total mis-castings of James Franco and Kirsten Dunst from the previous 3 Spidey movie outings. And Elena is absolutely stunning, as Mary Jane is in the comics, so at least we have that for all the geek-boys out there!
DC recently announced that Wonder Woman was going to have a new origin story and costume makeover which would bring her up to date with her new urban storyline. Oh what a crap decision! Now the pics have been released and the comic world has gone pretty nuts.
Frankly they've ruined her look in my book and in the second picture below that a fan has photoshopped and quite rightly labelled "fixed" you can see how much better she looks in her classic garb with the new touches, rather than the whole look being changed with leggings, jacket and flat pumps... It's not her anymore. It's pretty much Blue Superman all over again.
As I'm going to be the owner of a brand new comicshop in the next few months I'm going to get a hell of a lot more into comics than I am now and I'm sure I'll be reading her new run, but I'm going to miss the old Diana either way!
A new poster here for the November 5th movie "Megamind" featuring Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt. Obviously the poster is playing on the fact that two relatively big names are in the movie, the only problem being that the film's plot is based entirely on the fact that life gets boring for the villain Megamind after defeating his arch-nemesis... So we'll probably only see/hear Pitt for a tiny fraction of the film. Oh well...
Another old Japanese franchise that I grew up with having lived in Hong Kong when I was younger was "Captain Harlock".
I had, and still have, various rubber-type action figures and toys but never knew what they were from up until a year or two ago, and now I've found this trailer for an upcoming CGI movie based on the 70's anime this stuff was based on. I can't say it looks great and it's probably not my cup of tea, but if you're a die-hard Harlock fan then I'm sure this'll get your juices flowing! The videois a bad pirate copy of the trailer shown at an event on a big screen, but you get the idea.
I used to watch the old 60's Batman series re-runs all the time on tv when I was young but I can't recall ever watching the episode where The Green Hornet and Kato visited Gotham and came up against Batman and Robin.
I found the videos the other day whilst searching for info on the new Green Hornet movie and had to smile at how bad, and oh so cool, they are. Bruce Lee fighting Robin is a highlight!!!
Well here we have it... The first official image of the cast from the new fourth season which features seven episodes. The fifth season has started filming now and will feature six episodes.
Season 4 will air in the UK in Jan 2011 and will star previous cast members Abby (Hannah Spearritt), Connor (Andrew-Lee Potts) and Becker (Ben Mansfield) who are joined by Matt (CiaránMcMenamin), and Jess (Ruth Kearney). McMenamin and Kearney are new additions to the cast.
They'll also be joined by former Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig in the role of scientist Philip Burton (woo hoo!).
There may be Primeval haters out there, but I'm certainly not one of them. I love this show and can't wait for it to return!
I have to admit that I can only just remember the original 2001 movie "Cats and Dogs" and I don't believe I was that impressed...
Now I find out, to my total and utter shock, that a sequel is due out this month!
If you didn't know - the premise for these movies revolves around an ongoing battle between the evil cats and the heroic dogs who both run secret high-tech spy organisations to enslave and protect mankind respectively... Although in this new movie it looks like both factions have to team up to defeat Kitty Galore... Dear lord...
Chris O'Donnell really has gone down in the world... Although I'm sure my kids will love it!
Animals always amaze me with the wonderful stuff they are sometimes capable of and this elephant from Thailand, named Hong, is able to paint intricate images with her trunk.
The 8 year old is a curious and highly intelligent elephant who when caught opening a truck door a few years back was given some paint, a brush and an easel and managed to produce some truly stunning pieces of art (for an elephant).
At the end of the Glastonbury Music Festival held recently, current Doctor Matt Smith wandered out onto the stage to play an excellent version of the Dr. Who theme with electronic/dance duo Orbital. It's halfway through the video when the drum and bass kick in and all the Who fans watching will get a case of the goosebumps...
Proving that Smith is definitely the youngest and hippest of all the Doctors he was greeted with an amazingly pumped up crowd who were visibly hyped to have him appear on stage at the end of an awesome event.
This video has done the Internet rounds for a couple of weeks now but it's a great little video of a Star Wars AT-AT as if it was a real dog... The Jabba-poop is a great touch.
I'm not sure why I'm posting this up as it's as painful for me as nails down a chalkboard, but I found it so funny and scary that I thought I'd post it up. The guy does a good job on the Pokemon theme, that much can't be argued, unfortunately it's just one of those things that is so camp and in-depth (he must have spent ages doing this) that you have to laugh... How many low cut v-neck tops does this guy have???
Even if you're not a fan, or even don't have a clue what the hell "Space Battleship Yamato" is, you have to admit that this trailer is pretty cool...
This is the full Japanese non-subtitled trailer for the upcoming TakashiYamazaki directed science fiction movie which gets released in Japan in December 2010.
I know I keep on saying it every time a new DC animated movie gets announced but I do so love these films...
Having watched the previous films all more than five times each, Green Lantern : First Flight even more than that, I can safely say that I'm looking forward to the next outing which will be "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse". The story will be based on the graphic novel "Last Girl from Krypton" by Jeph Loeb which centers around the discovery of a crashed spaceship containing Supergirl. Whilst the trinity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman try to help Kara in her new surroundings the evil Darkseid has other ideas and abducts her, turning her into his ultimate weapon: A Kryptonian powerful enough to defeat his arch rival Superman...
Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy return as Supes and Bats and Summer Glau will be voicing Supergirl/Kara.
The DC animated short "Green Arrow" will also be released on the DVD and it's due out on September 28th. Looking forward to it!
Check out the awesome trailer for a movie that I posted on about 6 months ago.......LET ME IN. This is a remake of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, a movie about a child that befriends a Vampire and gets drawn into their dark existence.AND NO THIS AIN'T SOME FLUFFY GIRLIE TWILIGHT SHITE!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome back the nasty, bloody spilling, gore covered Vampires that we all know and love!!!UP YOURS TWILIGHT!!! YOU SUCK ASS!!!!!
And if you wanna know what the Morse code at the end says, follow the link below for a handy little translator!!!
Well what can I possibly say about the latest offering in the ongoing "PREDATOR" franchise? I'll tell you what I can say..................awesome and a step in the right direction to bring the franchise out of the shadow of AVP!!!!
Now I'll say from the outset that this film is bare bones and a basic action film about a group of Earth's deadliest killers being hunted by the Galaxies greatest warriors..........no, not the Klingons!!
It's a easy plot to follow, but this is Sci Fi and not Shakespeare. It delivers a cast that, even though they are nasty buggers, you kinda root for from the first few moments of the movie. The action is solid and well shot, and gives some gut churning moments (ripping one of the merry bands skull and spine out in one swift move while still alive!!!) and has you gripped from the first to the last frame of the movie.
My only issue is the fact that they showed that awesome shot of Aiden Brodey getting targeted by loadsa Predator lasers and it never appears in the movie!!! I HATE IT WHEN THEY DO THAT!!!!! The same as the alternate beginning scene of IRON MAN2 where Pepper kisses the IRONMAN helmet before throwing it out of the plane for Tony to chase!!!
It's simple, basic and great. It shows enough nods to the original and sets up for more Predator related action. What more do you want.Watch it and relive the action of the original that made Predator so great. And here's the trailer to encourage you to get off your ass and go to the cinema!!!
