Movie And TV News Roundup Of The Week - MEGAPOST
A very late post today that should have gone up last week, so apologies for that! Here are the most recent entertainment news stories and Youtube trailers for upcoming movies. Enjoy!
Anson Mount, recently known for the Marvel Inhumans TV show, has been officially announced as Captain Pike, the original captain of the starship Enterprise which *SPOILER* turned up at the end of the first season of Discovery. To be absolutely fair Anson is a perfect fit for Pike and despite the bad reception Inhumans got I really liked him as Black Bolt. Can't wait for season 2 now!
If you've seen the Solo trailers you'll notice that the Falcon doesn't look like it does in the other Star Wars movies. The reason, as you can see above, is that this prequel version includes an extra ship that comes from the front of the Falcon's nose section. These images come from the Bandai model but obviously show the most iconic ship of all time beautifully.
Legendary director Steven Spielberg is finally taking on a 'superhero' movie with the adaptation of the DC Blackhawk comic. Heading back to World War II where we know Spielberg excels visually the film will focus on Blackhawk, the leader of the Blackhawk air-force elite squadron, It's not the most well known set of characters so it'll be something Spielberg will bring out of the closet to a new audience, but after Indiana Jones 5 finishes this will be next.

Gabriel Luna Cast As The New Terminator In Upcoming Movie
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D actor, Gabriel Luna, who played Ghost Rider is set to star as the iconic role of the Terminator in the new Tim Miller/James Cameron film which is a sequel to T2: Judgement Day and completely disregards the sequels after that. I find the casting a little strange as Luna doesn't strike me as Terminator material, but I trust James Cameron to help make a good movie regardless.

Paramount & Hasbro Team With F. Gary Gray To Develop 'MASK' Into Film
Paramount and Hasbro are teaming up with director F. Gary Gray to develop the live action film MASK. MASK is an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, a task force led by Matt Trakker whose goal is to take out the criminal organization VENOM. The film will be based on the ’80s Kenner action figures and animated series.
I had a huge amount of MASK toys as a kid and I loved the cartoon, so I hope they do this franchise justice!
Future World - Trailer
In a post-apocalyptic world, where water and gasoline have long since dried-up, a prince from the oasis (one of the last known safe-havens) must venture out to find medicine for the ailing queen (Lucy Liu), but along the way he gets mixed up with the warlord (James Franco) and his robot Ash (Suki Waterhouse), which leads to a daring journey through the desolate wastelands.
The MEG - Trailer & Poster
Jason Statham (“Spy,” “Furious 7,” “The Expendables” films) and award-winning Chinese actress Li Bingbing (“Transformers: Age of Extinction,” “Forbidden Kingdom,” “The Message”) star in the science fiction action thriller “The Meg,” directed by Jon Turteltaub (the “National Treasure” movies, “Last Vegas”).
In the film, a deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below…bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time
Incredibles 2 - Official Trailer
In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
OCEAN'S 8 - Official Main Trailer
Having this much fun is a crime. Oceans8 stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, with Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter.
Hotel Artemis - Trailer
In HOTEL ARTEMIS, set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, Jodie Foster plays The Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals. Surrounded by an all-star cast that includes Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista, HOTEL ARTEMIS is a stylish, high-octane action-thriller written and directed by Drew Pearce (writer of IRON MAN 3, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION, SHERLOCK HOLMES 3).
The Equalizer 2 - Trailer
Denzel Washington returns to one of his signature roles in the first sequel of his career. Robert McCall serves an unflinching justice for the exploited and oppressed – but how far will he go when that is someone he loves?

Movie And TV News Roundup Of The Week - MEGAPOST
Here's this week's entertainment news! Enjoy!
The new Venom movie starring Tom Hardy in the lead role doesn't seem to have good vibes going for it at the moment. News broke last week that we probably won't actually get to see much "Venom" in the film, which was probably apparent from the mediocre trailer which was panned pretty hard, but rumours then came out that actor Woody Harrelson may have been cast as Carnage, the vicious and deadly Spider-Man comics villain. IMDB has his name up, but not who he's playing, so we'll have to wait and see if Woody is indeed Carnage and whether or not this another Sony-Marvel cock-up of a film.
Honestly I didn't know there was a new Doctor Dolittle film being made but recently Robert Downey Jr. put this picture up on social media showing and announcing the all-star voice cast. Downey confirmed that he will play the title character of Dolittle in he movie. He will be joined by Rami Malek as Chee-Chee the gorilla, Octavia Spencer as Dab-Dab the duck, Kumail Nanjiani as Plimpton the ostrich, John Cena as Yoshi the polar bear, Marion Cotillard as Tutu the fox, Carmen Ejogo as Regine the Lioness, Craig Robinson as Fleming the mouse, Frances de la Tour as Ginko-Who-Soars, Tom Holland as Jip the dog, Emma Thimpson as Polynesia the parrot, Selena Gomez as Betsy the giraffe and Raplh Fiennes as Barry the tiger... Whew. The movie is set for an April 2019 release.
Holy Jesus am I an avid fan of the 1984 movie "The Last Starfighter"! I used to watch that film so much when I was younger and loved the storyline of a boy playing an arcade game that gets him whisked off to the stars to battle in an alien war. Now Gary Whitta, the screenwriter behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Book of Eli, has announced on Twitter that he is working with co-writer Jonathan Betuel, who wrote the original movie, on a reboot of the sci-fi cult classic. Whitta shared concept art for the project, created by Matt Allsopp, which you can view below. Now I have to also point out that he answered a fan who asked why it was a reboot and not a sequel by saying "who said it's a reboot", so we're unclear at this point whether it's one or the other. But I can't wait for this. Here's the artwork:
During a Q&A in Austin, Texas, the co-writer for the film, C. Robert Cargill, revealed details about a possible sequel. While Marvel hasn’t officially announced the sequel Cargill and Scott Derrickson have plans for the 2nd film. They plan on including Nightmare as the film’s main villain. Cargill stated very definitively that “Nightmare will be the villain”.
Nightmare is often seen as a demon and the ruler of the Dream Dimension. Along with near omnipotence, he has the ability to draw power from the psychic energies from dreaming beings. Cargill also discussed their plans for Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo, saying that he has a specific arc and will be the second villain, being almost like Loki from the Thor and Avenger films, being seen in multiple films.
Karl Urban has become synonimous with geeky films so it's not surprise that he's been cast in Amazon's The Boys. Urban, who has appeared in such movies as THE LORD OF THE RINGS, THE BOURNE SUPREMACY, STAR TREK, DREDD, and THOR: RAGNAROK, will be jumping back to the small-screen in the upcoming series based upon the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
The Boys is et in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame with the series revolving around a group of vigilantes who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with little more than blue-collar grit and the willingness to fight dirty. Karl Urban is set to play Billy Butcher, the mysterious and brutal leader of The Boys who carries a personal but secret agenda. Butcher approaches Hughie (Jack Quaid), claiming to be a shadowy government operative. Capitalising on Hughie’s rage over his girlfriend Robin’s accidental death at the hands of Superhero A-Train (Jesse T. Usher), Butcher enlists Hughie as part of his plan to bring down the Superhero franchise. Eric Kripke (Supernatural) will write the series as well as serve as show-runner, with the pilot set to be directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (Preacher). Karen Fukuhara (SUICIDE SQUAD), Erin Moriarty (True Detective), Antony Starr (Banshee), Dominique McElliogott (Hell on Wheels), and Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) will also star in The Boys.
FX Networks has ordered a pilot for Y The Last Man, based on the acclaimed post-apocalyptic science fiction comic book series (which I read all of and loved).
All of the men are dead. But one, and his monkey. Based on the DC comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y traverses a world of women — exploring gender, race, class and survival.
The show has some good names behind its creation with Michael Green (American Gods, Blade Runner 2049, Logan) and Aida Mashaka Croal (Luke Cage, Turn) will serving as Co-Showrunners and Executive Producers along with Matsoukas (Insecure, Master of None, Beyonce: Formation), Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force (American Crime Story, Pose, The Hunger Games) and Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, Marvel’s Runaways, Saga), who have been working together to develop the series.
Set in the near-future, technology controls nearly all aspects of life. But when Grey, a self-identified technophobe, has his world turned upside down, his only hope for revenge is an experimental computer chip implant called Stem. THIS LOOKS AWESOME!
I used to watch the original series when I lived in Hong Kong as a kid, but oh dear, this reboot looks painfully bad!
Based on the viral short film, this is the story of a man and his infant daughter who are stranded in the middle of a zombie apocalypse in rural Australia. And when he becomes infected, the countdown begins for him to find her protection before he changes forever.
Set in 2093, Nightflyers is a psychological thriller that follows a team of scientists to the edge of the solar system to find a mysterious alien ship. Coming fall 2018 to Syfy.
The Cleanse centres on a heartbroken man who attends a spiritual retreat, only to discover that the course releases more than everyday toxins and traumatic experiences.
He's back, unfortunately...

Woody Harrelson Playing Carnage In Venom Movie?

DC's "Death Of Superman" Animated Movie - First Look Video And Voice Cast Revealed
I'm a DC animated movie fanatic so I'm super-happy to see this new video showing footage from the upcoming "Death of Superman" addition and to see the voice-cast, both old and new. Part 2 - "Reign of the Supermen" will be coming in early 2019!
Jerry O’Connell will reprise his role as the Man of Steel in the film, leading an all-star voice cast for Warner Bros. Animation’s adaptation of the 1992 comic book storyline.
Announced in July 2017, it’s part of a two-movie animated epic that will conclude next year with the release of Reign of the Supermen.
O’Connell will be joined by his wife Rebecca Romijn as Lois Lane and Rainn Wilson as Lex Luthor, with DC Universe Animated Orginal Movies veterans Jason O’Mara as Batman, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Matt Lanter as Aquaman, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Christopher Gorham as The Flash and Shemar Moore as Cyborg.
The cast also includes Rocky Carroll as Cyborg’s father Silas Stone, and Better Call Saul’s Patrick Fabian as Hank Henshaw. While Henshaw is a part of DC’s “Reign of the Supermen” storyline, along with Superboy, Steel and Eradicator, the voice actors for those three characters have not yet been revealed.
In the original “Death of Superman,” the Man of Steel sacrifices himself to save Metropolis from a rampage by Doomsday, a seemingly unstoppable monster genetically-engineered from the depths of prehistoric Superman’s home world, Krypton.
