Unbelievably Awesome Darth Malgus Costume!

It took 6 weeks for Irish makeup artist Julian Checkley to bulid this Darth Malgus Sith Lord outfit, but to be honest this looks like the most professional Star Wars themed costume ever created. It's epic (and damned scary) on a level not usually seen by non-studio employees!

Impressive... most impressive. :)

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox - Trailer

Below is the first full trailer for DC's next comic-to-animated movie conversion "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox" based on the Flashpoint comic series which led to the New 52 universe still currently running. Looking forward to this one!

The World's End - New Trailer

A new trailer for Edgar Wright's "The World's End" introduced by the man himself... Looking good!

New Xbox One Announcement Includes Spielberg Produced Halo TV Series!

Microsoft revealed the Xbox One this week, their latest entertainment system that incorporates access to movies, live TV and Internet Explorer, which is expected to launch by the end of this year.

The company also revealed another equally exciting project that is in the works: a live-action television series based on the Halo franchise, which will be produced by (the one and only) Steven Spielberg and shown exclusively on Xbox Live. Is this what everyone has been looking forward too? Well it's not a big budget movie, but if Spielberg is involved it's going to hopefully be better than most of us expect!

Man Of Steel - Awesome New Trailer/TV Spot

Dear God... I wholeheartedly admit that every time I watch another one of these Man of Steel trailers I well up with geeky tears! Is it just me or does this look epic? I'm no major Zack Snyder fan by any means, but wow... This trailer/TV spot is called "Fate of your planet".

Enjoy!

Marvel's Avengers Assemble The Animated Series - Full Trailer

We saw the teaser a week or so ago featuring a few snippets from the show, now we have the full trailer, and it's obvious that this is indeed supposed to be a direct jump from the Avengers movie to an animated show (mixing Falcon in there too), even down to paraphrasing various lines from the movie itself.

Enjoy!

Star Wars Rebels - The New Animated Series From Disney?

A big announcement was made today regarding the new animated Star Wars series by Disney that will be replacing the cancelled Clone Wars ...

Here's the announcement video and then the press release below that:

Production has begun on Star Wars Rebels, an exciting, all-new animated television series based on one of the greatest entertainment franchises of all time. Scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

Leading the development of the series is a creative team of exceptional talent. Screenwriter/producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is an executive producer on Star Wars Rebels and will write the premiere episode. He is joined by Dave Filoni as executive producer, who served as supervising director of the Emmy nominated Star Wars: The Clone Wars since 2008. Executive producer Greg Weisman brings with him a wealth of animation experience with credits such as Young Justice, The Spectacular Spider-Man and Gargoyles.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said, "The entire team at Lucasfilm has provided extraordinary creativity and innovation for over three decades, and we're thrilled to be bringing the expansive and imaginative world of Star Wars to Disney XD's viewers."

"I couldn't be more excited to explore new corners of the Star Wars universe," said Kathleen Kennedy, president, Lucasfilm. "I think Star Wars Rebels will capture the look, feel and fun that both kids and their parents love about Star Wars."

The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV -- an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Details about the show are a closely guarded secret at this point.

Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fans attending Star Wars Celebration Europe will be the first to get an exclusive look at the new series. Casting will be announced at a later date. More information about this developing project will be found on StarWars.com and on Facebook at facebook.com/starwarsrebels.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past - Jennifer Lawrence In Make-Up As Mystique!

Putting aside for the moment that we're looking at the stark naked Jennifer Lawrence (in blue all-over make-up of course) I'm reporting the news that Mystique is the latest Tweet from director Bryan Singer...

And just in case I didn't mention it before: this is Jennifer Lawrence (albeit skinnier and seemingly much cuter looking than in First Class for some reason) stark naked... That is all...

"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn"!

Pacific Rim - New Official "Main" Trailer

Here's the newest trailer for Pacific Rim, considered by Warner Bros. to be their "main" trailer... A little bit of extra footage, but now I just want to watch this movie, it looks awesome!

Batman: Arkham Origins - Full Trailer!

So here it is, the first full-length cinematic trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins, the newest Batman/Arkham videogame coming soon for PS3 and Xbox.

Personally I've become somewhat of a Deathstroke fan recently so I'm liking this trailer a lot right now. Hopefully the game will be as good, if not better, than the last two epic Arkham games!

Hulk And The Agents Of S.M.A.S.H. - First Promo Video

Below is the first promo video for the upcoming Marvel animated series "Hulk and The agents of S.M.A.S.H.".

Not a lot of footage, just voice actor Fred Tatasciore describing the series, but it's something at least!

In "Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.," Hulk has long fought alone to protect a world that sees him as a monster, but his friend Rick Jones has taken it upon himself to film the world-saving exploits of Big Green and his team to change that image. In this never before seen team up of Hulk, his cousin She-Hulk, A-Bomb, Red Hulk and Skaar, Marvel's mightiest super heroes form an eccentric family living under one roof, working together to tackle threats that are too enormous for other heroes to handle. From trying to house break their giant red pet T-Rex to stopping Ego the Living Planet from crashing into the Earth, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. must learn to balance Hulk-sized action with everyday family-sized problems.

Avengers Assemble The Animated Series - New Promo Trailer

Another promo trailer has been released by Disney XD showcasing new footage from the upcoming Avengers Assemble animated series starting May 26th in the U.S.

It still saddens me that EMH was cancelled for this and I'm cringing slightly at some of the dialogue featured here, but any Avengers cartoon is a good cartoon for fans so let's wait another few weeks to see what we get!

From Dusk Till Dawn TV Show?

Remember the original and extremely awesome 1996 From Dusk Till Dawn movie? Forgot about the straight to DVD sequels, or simply didn't watch them? Yup, me to.

I'm a massive fan of the original film but I'm a little bemused by the news today that the franchise is set to jump onto our TV screens through Robert Rodriguez's new "El Rey" cable network, Rodriguez being the original movie's director and co-writer.

The series will be written, produced and directed by Rodriguez himself and will explore and expand on the characters and story from the original film, providing a wider scope and richer Aztec mythology.

To be honest I think From Dusk Till Dawn worked so well (and again I stress that I'm talking about the originals and not the sequels) because of the top quality actors playing their perfect parts. George Clooney was particularly amazing, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, and even Quentin Tarantino got top marks from me for their parts, and you can't deny that having Salma Hayek, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, and Tom Savini (among many others) upped the awesome-ante to an instant-classic level. New actors playing the roles (if they keep any of the characters) may dilute the Kool Aid somewhat, but as long as we have a good ongoing storyline and kick-ass vampires I'm up for it! Could this be a Mexican-style Walking Dead but with vampires, and possibly a lot of dark/sick humour? Hmmmmm...

Scribblenauts Unmasked (A DC Comics Adventure) - Announcement Trailer!

Loving the look of this new Scribblenauts game coming out soon for the Wii-U, 3DS, and PC!

The family and I love these games and it's going to be even cooler now you have the entire DC Comics universe at your fingertips! Maxwell now teams up with Batman, Superman, and the rest of the Justice League to restore order to the universe against a huge roster of famous comic villains! Awesome! :)

Riddick - First Full Trailer

Here's the first full, action-packed trailer for the upcoming movie "Riddick".

The 3rd movie in the series sees Riddick left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, finding himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick's past..

Looks good, but may not be... I wasn't so sold by The Chronicles of Riddick so I'm holding back my hopes for this one. I am happy however that Katee Sackhoff is back in sci-fi yet again playing a hardass! :)

Almost Human - New Series Trailer

You know I really can't see Karl Urban as anything other than Bones from Star Trek now... Strange.

This brand new trailer below showcases "Almost Human" a new sci-fi series by JJ. Abrams is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

Looks OK, but will it fill the gap that Abrams' Fringe left? Feels a bit like I-Robot the series to me! We'll see.

UPDATE: Previous trailer taken down so new one added!

Kiefer Sutherland Returning As Jack Bauer In New 24 Series!

Personally I haven't seen a single episode of 24 at all... I know that's bad, but I have the complete series DVD box set sitting here for me to enjoy at some quiet point in my future, so it's all good.

Anyway news was released this week that Kiefer Sutherland will be returning to his most well-known and much loved role of Jack Bauer in a brand new 12 episode series reprisal called "24: Live Another Day" which will air early May 2014. Unfortunately, for some people at least, Kiefer's current show "Touch" has been cancelled, so season 2 is the last one. I'm pretty peeved at that as I wanted to see more of Touch, but I'm guessing there are more 24 fans than Touch, so I'll be outvoted on that one!

No news on characters or storyline yet but this has been on the cards for a while as well as a 24 movie, so it's not ground breaking news.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D - Full Awesome Trailer!

OK, so getting a teaser for the teaser, then a teaser for the trailer, and then the full trailer within the space of two days is slightly annoying, but then when you view the final full version you forget all that and revel in the fact that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is coming!

No release date yet, but we know it'll be a slot at 8pm on a Tuesday night for America...

Enjoy!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - First Image Of Paul Giamatti As Rhino (No Costume)

Marc Webb just posted up this new image of Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich aka The Rhino in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2, however this is obviously without his trademark Rhino outfit (just a bit of external road rage at the mo), and at this point we don't even know if we'll see him suited up in anything like the grey horned suit this time round. But here's hoping nonetheless!

EDIT: 12/05/13 - Even more set pics featuring Giamatti as Sytsevich and Spidey holding what would seem to be some sort of chemical serum (Rhino serum?).

Mini-Reviews For Iron Man III And Star Trek: Into Darkness (No Spoilers)

It's an extremely difficult exercise to review a movie that has only recently been released, that not everyone has seen yet, and that has so many secrets and spoilers that can't be mentioned so as not to ruin the film for everyone reading your blog... The two mini-reviews below are hopefully totally spoiler free and simply a quick guide as to whether I think these films are good or not. I haven't reviewed anything in a while and I no longer have the time to do in-depth reviews, so I'll be doing short reviews for films and games using a new, brief Q&A format below, including the odd thought or note before it too. Remember you can always post on the Facebook page to ask questions or disagree with me should you feel the need!

Iron Man III

First of all I'd like to say that the original 2008 Iron Man movie directed by Jon Favreau was an amazing movie and the catalyst and fresh new beginning for every Marvel film we've had the pleasure of watching ever since. It was a mould that could be considered "perfect", and not just because of the element of "perfect casting" of the lead role. Robert Downey Jr. is without doubt the perfect Tony Stark, there's simply no arguing with that fact, and although Iron Man II was a little hit and miss in both the story and the character department, it was still an enjoyable movie. Iron Man III, this time directed by Shane Black, is undoubtedly a better and more enjoyable movie that the second film but due to a pretty huge twist in the story regarding the main villain The Mandarin and the final few minutes of the film itself it seems to have suffered with fans and critics. For me it's an excellent movie with a huge amount of humour, emotion, and kick-ass action scenes. Ben Kingsley (an actor I've never really had time for before) steals the film with his brief scenes (you'll understand this when you watch it) and there's an excellent and very balanced use of sub characters such as Pepper, Rhodey, Jarvis, Happy, and the new characters such as Harley. Directors such as Joss Whedon or JJ. Abrams are usually the masters at achieving this but Shane Black has to be applauded for bringing us a character-based success such as he has. It's apparent through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr that not everyone likes it as much as I do and I even saw posts on Tumblr with people overreacting with things like "Iron Man III you have ruined my life!", which just goes to show that some people are uber-fickle and can never be pleased by simply sitting back and watching a movie when the original source material has been tweaked or changed in a relatively major way. I'm afraid fans don't get to choose how a film is made, only the Hollywood big-wigs get to do that. I'm going to leave the review there as there are too many spoilers I'd love to talk about, but here's the Q&A review format below:

First off, is this film good or bad? - Good

Would a non-fanboy/fangirl enjoy it too? - Yes I think so, but some may find it difficult to stomach if they don't like flying robot suits etc!

If this is a sequel do you need to have seen the other films in the franchise? - I would say yes, it would help! But it's great by itself.

What words would you use to describe this film? - Action-packed, twisty, girl power, goosebumps, finality, long.

What was your favourite moment or moments in the movie? - Quite a few, but the twist, Pepper girl-power, and the multi-armour moments were great for me.

Would you have changed anything if you could? - I wasn't too hot on Tony's panic attack scenes, I still wish Terence Howard was Rhodey, and the ending moments seemed a little out of character and non canon to the source material and the future of the franchise for me.

What score would you give the movie out of 10, 10 being the best and 0 being the worst? - 7/10 Great movie, just a few tweaks needed to be perfect.

Star Trek: Into Darkness (3D)

The 2009 Star Trek reboot movie directed by JJ. Abrams in one of my favourite films of all time, and that's saying something from a geek like me. The visuals were beautiful, the soundtrack was amazing, and the casting was spot-on for the most part. There was no doubt in my mind that any sequel that followed would become yet another firm favourite of mine and I can now safely say that this is indeed the case. It's extremely difficult and dangerous to write a review of this film without releasing major plot points yet again, so I can only really say that if you're an avid Star Trek fan you are simply going to love this film. You may even cry a little, if not once then numerous times throughout the film, for exciting moments and of course sad ones. The acting and the action is superb and even if you stood the film to one side of it being a Star Trek movie it would still stand up as an excellent action/sci-fi outing. Non fans won't get the references, the well-known phrases, the alternate timeline/universe slants on previous Trek movies or TV show scenes, but pure Trekkers will have goosebumps and "YES!" moments throughout. It's a truly beautiful film with moments of sheer greatness multiplied heavily by the twisty yet familiar story and astounding performances, especially from Chris Pine playing Kirk once again. I saw this in 3D, but I prefer 2D myself and I think about half way through you'll feel as if you don't really need to be watching it in 3D to enjoy it. I have to admit that the close up shots of Chris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch's faces seem to be ingrained into my brain and burnt into my eyeballs somehow since leaving the cinema for some reason! You will however leave the cinema feeling full no matter how to view it, like leaving a fantastic and expensive restaurant after an amazing meal with good friends. You'll feel satiated and happy on a level only a true geek really can. As you can tell I loved it!

First off, is this film good or bad? - Very, very good!

Would a non-fanboy/fangirl enjoy it too? - Yes, but you need to be a Trek fan to get 110% enjoyment out of this.

If this is a sequel do you need to have seen the other films in the franchise? - Yes, and I would always recommend the original 2009 one anyway!

What words would you use to describe this film? - Beautiful, action-packed, twisty, tear-inducing, epic, nostalgic.

What was your favourite moment or moments in the movie? - Truly too many to mention accurately, but if you see it yourself you'll no doubt love the same teary twisty moment that I did near the end too!

Would you have changed anything if you could? - Actually no, I enjoyed every minute... Maybe more scantily-clad Alice Eve... :P

What score would you give the movie out of 10, 10 being the best and 0 being the worst? - 10/10 Truly an enjoyable and well made movie that has to be seen twice in the cinema and then at least every week at least on Blu-ray once it's been released!
