The sequel to X-Men: First Class has a new director now that Matthew Vaughn has changed to producing duty instead. Singer, as you'll no doubt know, brought us the first two X-Men movies (and the berated Superman: Returns) but seems to be a welcome addition/re-addition to the movie franchise. DOFP will reunite all the main cast from First Class and will focus loosely on the comics storyline of the same name where we see a future timeline ravaged by Sentinels and Mutants are on the run. Although without Wolverine I don't like the sounds of this...
George Lucas' biographer tells us what the original Star Wars 12 part saga could mold the future Disney-owned movies into
Supposedly this could all be crap but writer Dave Pollock once wrote an unauthorized George Lucas biography ("Skywalking: The Life And Films Of George Lucas") and he has recently revealed the following details about the Lucas' outlines for another SIX Star Wars movies.
The stories for the next trilogy will be "the most exciting" in the series. It was originally a 12-part saga. The three most exciting stories were 7, 8 and 9. They had propulsive action, really interesting new worlds, new characters. I remember thinking, 'I want to see these 3 movies.'
" The series will apparently feature a Luke Skywalker in his 30s and 40s, making it unlikely that the 61 year old Mark Hamill will return. So, what if Disney decide not to use Lucas' outline? "Writers will absolutely take his outline. That’s in part what Disney bought."
Hmmmm...
Castle Wolfenstein movie back on track
Courtesy of Filmjunk.com: It’s been a few years since we’ve heard from writer/director Roger Avary, who was serving out a sentence for vehicular manslaughter between 2009 and 2010, but now he seems to be focused on getting his career back on track. One of the last major projects he was involved with before his legal problems started was the first Silent Hill movie. With the sequel bombing in theatres just last weekend, you might think he would take that as a sign that he should stay away from more video game adaptations. On the contrary, he has decided to resume another project based on a video game that he had been working on a few years ago. Here’s what Avary had to say about writing and directing a Castle Wolfenstein movie:
“I’ve been playing the Wolfenstein games since I was a kid, and feel that their outlandish sensibility has deeply influenced my own writing and directing throughout my career. I have always thought Wolfenstein, transformed and opened for the screen to wider audiences not familiar with the games, would be a major cinematic experience, which is why I introduced it to Samuel. He bought the rights, and I could not be happier that we are now embarking on this adventure.”
Samuel Hadida (Resident Evil, Killing Zoe) is producing the film through his Panorama Media company. They are now describing Castle Wolfenstein as “an action adventure film in the vein of Captain America: The First Avenger and Inglourious Basterds,” and it’s interesting to think in the five years since the project was first announced, it may have actually become more marketable. I have to admit I’m moderately curious but I can’t say I have particularly high hopes for this movie. Would you pay to see Castle Wolfenstein on the big screen?
I wonder if Hitler will turn up with a mini-gun in each hand...
Jamie Foxx to play Electro in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' sequel?
Not confirmed or denied 100% at this point, the news on the grapevine is that Jamie Foxx is being looked at/approached for the role of Electro in the Spidey sequel. Now the first reaction online is the old "Electro is white and Foxx is black" (correct me if I'm wrong there comic fans), but then it's not the first time the old colour switcheroo has been done in a Marvel movie (Kingpin in Daredevil?), so although it sounds slightly ludicrous at this point let's see how it plays out...
Stan Lee confirms Doctor Strange, Black Panther, & Inhumans movies
The one and only Stan Lee mentioned various future Marvel character movies in an interview recently confirming that both Doctor Strange and Black Panther were both moving ahead, among others. Lee said:
"I have very little control. I don’t see the script, occasionally I will have lunch with the director or a star, like the guy making Ant-Man,I don’t remember his name- I don’t remember names, or Robert Downey Jr., for Iron-Man and we talk about the characters,"
