Fan-Made Doctor Who Anime Video = Funky!

This fan-made 12.5 minute 80's style Anime is based on John Pertwee's Doctor and was painstakingly made by OtaKing77077...

To be honest I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole thing but having flicked through I can safely say that it looks absolutely amazing, considering it's fan-made... Enjoy!

Who Will Die During Marvel's Fear Itself Storyline? POSSIBLE MAJOR SPOILER!

POSSIBLE MAJOR "FEAR ITSELF" SPOILER BELOW!

Having recently read an Avengers graphic novel (I can't remember its name) which puzzled me slightly with a future-based revelation about Bucky Barnes doing something major which offended/upset/disgusted the Avengers kids I was very sad and maybe a little perplexed to hear today that the current Marvel comics "Fear Itself" storyline may kill him off...

I think I'm safe in saying that fans have loved the new Bucky-Cap and Steve Rogers could have quite happily taken a permanent step back as the "Super Soldier"... But recently writer Ed Brubaker confirmed that Rogers will indeed re-assume the mantle of Captain America by July 2011... Bugger. Is that confirmation then? Sounds like it.

Lets hope Bucky's future awards him a worthy death/sacrifice and he doesn't go out in a forgettable and throw-away way... :(

UPDATE: 04/06/11:

Having just popped into work today I found the issue in question sitting on my desk... And I now feel slightly ill that I might have been right (it was kind of obvious). Look at the scanned comic page below.

Click on the pic to view it full size, I've made it small so those of you that don't want it ruined won't see it fully (even though I've already ruined it above!).

Doctor Who Season 6 Mid Season Finale - More Info And Videos

The end (or at least the mid season finale) is almost upon us and here below are a few more pics, videos and bits of info to whet your appetites!

This first lot of info is directly from Blastr.com:

12 tantalizing Doctor Who mid-season finale teasers

While U.S. audiences won't get to see the Doctor Who mid-season finale, "A Good Man Goes to War," until next Saturday (bummer), lucky viewers in the the U.K. will be able to watch it THIS Saturday. And some tantalizing, fun and intriguing teasers and pics about the episode have been released. But beware of SPOILERS.

First off, SFX has released more than 21 cool teasers for the episode that promises to be shock-full of revelations, mind-boggling plot twists and one massive cliffhanger. We've chosen 12 that seemed the best, most thrilling and fun to us.

Second, the BBC has released some pictures from "A Good Man Goes to War," but if you haven't seen "The Almost People" yet, it could ruin a bit of the surprise—so be forewarned!

There are lots of spaceships—and that's just in the teaser

Have we ever said that lots of spaceships is good?

There is a very Star Wars feel (The Empire Strikes Back especially) even down to the shape of the windows and the music

Steven Moffat seems to be a fan of Star Wars (and Star Trek), and there were a lot of references to the movies, especially in last season's episode "The Beast Below," as well as throughout the season.

There are lots of suprise guest stars (and some will be a surprise), but unlike in "The Pandorica Opens" none of them feels wasted—they all have a chance to shine ... apart from one, maybe

SFX listed this one as two teasers, but we've put them together. We'll admit to being really puzzled about just who these surprise guest stars are, since we already know about the return of the Cybermen, Sontarans and Silurians. Could one of them be Captain Jack Harkness? Steven Moffat has expressed a strong desire to bring John Barrowman back on board the TARDIS at one point, and it could be the perfect time to squeeze in a cameo appearance. Who knows? Or perhaps, could it be the mysterious character called Jenny (as in the Doctor's Daughter)?

There are some revelations that really will make your jaw drop

Revelations. Plural. As most of you know, we're all finally expecting the grand revelation about just who the heck River Song is (and knowing the Moff, it will either be really simple or overly complicated) in that episode, so that's one down. If there are more, bring them on! But just what could they be?

There is a terrific battle scene at the end (which more than makes up for a slightly underwhelming and confusingly directed one in the first half)

Again, battle scenes are cool.

Although there's lots of time traveling, it's not a timey-wimey-reliant plot.

While we all love time traveling on Doctor Who, we have to admit that the time-traveling shenanigans that took place in last season's finale, "The Pandorica Opens" and "The Big Bang," while a lot of fun, also gave us a headache. So, yay!

The Doctor produces something very revealing from the TARDIS

Right. We're really puzzled here. Anyone have any ideas?

Rory says something very funny to an old enemy that you can't believe has never been said before

Will he call the Sontarans potato heads? Let's strike that one, 'cause that's been said before. Let's see what will come out of Moffat's head. We're pretty sure we'll all go, "Of course!"

A throwaway line from last season becomes a major plot device

Dang it! we have to go and re-watch season five. Again.
And lastly, but not least:

Look carefully at the monitor screens ...
And the corridors
And please, please, please, if anyone has leaked the title for the next episode onto the Internet, avoid the temptation to check it out. When the caption comes up at the end, "The Doctor Will Be Back In..." it was so unexpected and made us grin so much, we'd hate you to miss having the same experience ...

The Dark Knight Rises - Five New Viral Videos?

It seems Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. are looking to create some real hype for the upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises" movie...

Five mysterious videos have gone up on YouTube posted by a user called "TheFireRises." The first, "419," features scenes of devastation and the sight of a massive skyscraper burning. The second, "423," has some weird chanting with footage of ambulances and Police announcements of "Officers down!" The third, "Outbreak," takes you inside of an prison, Arkham Asylum maybe while terrifying chanting builds in the background. The most recent video, "GCN," is the most explicitly Dark Knight-ish, with Anthony Michael Hall’s newscaster apparently reporting on an Arkham Asylum outbreak. In the middle of the "GCN" video, it flashes a link for a facebook page which takes you to "TheFireRises" page. The last video, "The Fire Rises" is just the chanting over and over...

Check out the five videos below via enewsi.com:

Hilarious Leonard Nimoy In Bruno Mars' New "The Lazy Song" Music Video

The Dark Knight pointed out this Bruno Mars music video to me last night and I've only just watched it... It's awesomely fantastic to see Leonard Nimoy act like such a git in the video... The only downside for me is that my personal experience of the man himself proves it's not an act! :(

NSFW.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes - New Trailer

A new trailer here for Rise of the Planet of the Apes with a lot more simian screen time... It reminds me of that old Matthew Broderick movie "Project X", but a hell of a lot scarier. Chimps give me the willies (for the Americans that means they scare me), seriously.

DC To Reset Time With Justice League # 1 After The Events Of Flashpoint?

I admit that although I own and run a big comicbook shop I don't keep up with every title, even the massive DC/Marvel storlines sometimes, but recently DC's time altering "Flashpoint" storyline has rocked the world and out of the ashes will emerge a new timeline/comic continuum starting with "Justice League # 1", notice there's no "International" or "of America" in the title either. I need to read this!

As you'll see from the gorgeous Jim Lee drawn image below each character has had their respective costumes slightly tweaked for the new run with Cyborg also becoming a full-time member (and is Green Lantern missing his ring?).

More info:

Guided by writer Geoff Johns and artist Jim Lee, Justice League will begin its first year with an updated secret origin reflecting DC's new initiative, giving the group a reason for coming together that it lacked when the league first appeared in 1960. And while it will ultimately boast 14 members, at its core will be DC's A-list do-gooders: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman.

"The approach is very much about who they are behind the masks and how they interact together and how these personalities mix," explains Johns, DC Entertainment's chief creative officer. "With the world's greatest superheroes, how does that team actually work? Do they all get along? Being able to pull together and see how that relationship is forged and continues to grow has to be at the heart of that book."

In the rollout of the revamped DC Universe, some titles will return, a lot of titles won't, and DC will have a wider range of books starting in September, Dan DiDio says. In addition, three-quarters of the creative teams will be shuffled around — series that are successful and writer/artist combinations that work well together won't be tweaked too much, he says.

“We’ve got a new set of creators coming in with new voices in the DC Universe,” Writer Dan DiDio says.

The characters also are getting a makeover. While most of the specifics are still top secret, artist Jim Lee says he worked with both staff and freelance artists to redesign costumes in a contemporary way as well as alter the physicality of many heroes and villains to modernize the DC Universe.

The recent emphasis on diverse characters such as lesbian superheroine Batwoman, Hispanic hero Blue Beetle and African-American adventurer Cyborg (who will be a core member of Johns and Lee’s new Justice League) also will continue.

Doctor Who Season 6 Mid Season Finale - Amy's Baby Etc. Spoilers And Video.

UPDATE: 04/06/11

HUGE SPOILER!

So I was right on one of my hypotheses below and River Song is indeed Amy and Rory's half Timelord daughter. If you haven't seen the episode I apologise profusely for ruining that revelation for you!

ORIGINAL POST:

A couple of photos and a few bits of info have appeared in magazines and online recently for the impending mid season finale of Doctor Who season 6. Spoilers!

As you're all aware by now an ongoing sub-storyline has been Amy's on/off pregnancy which has appeared on the Doctors Tardis scanner as both positive and negative due to an unknown time anomaly and we've already seen connections to Amy with the Timelord child (the little girl who regenerates and the pic of Amy and a baby we presume to be her) so we all know by now (or we presume) that Amy is going to give birth to a Timelord child (how and why are still unknown at this stage). We've also seen the weird "eye patch lady" (otherwise known as Madame Kovarian who can also be seen on the front of the Total TV Guide magazine cover etc below) pop up here and there watching Amy...

Firstly the Radio Times has an interview with Madame Kavarian  actress 'Frances Barber' who tells us that she's "involved with Amy's pregnancy before and after the birth and is in charge of a band of soldiers" (the ones seen on the front of the Radio Times cover with the hoods or the military style ones seen in the trailer, or are they one and the same?).

We also now know from the same interview page that in the mid season finale Amy starts out 9 months pregnant and in labour and has been kidnapped. The Doctor and Rory are on a mission to find her and hopefully rescue her, and the baby that's eventually born. However some old faces appear in the form of The Cybermen, The Sontarans and The Judoon! We also finally find out who River Song is and it's supposedly a "huge pay-off which you won't see coming". "A revelation so huge everyone will need the whole summer to digest it" so Karen Gillan states... Hmmm. My interest is palpable!

Unconfirmed reports (IMDB to be precise) also state that both David Tennant and Peter Davison appear in the mid season finale along with Matt Smith... Can this be so? Didn't those two appear together in a Children in Need special? Anyway this isn't confirmed and IMDB isn't always 100% accurate so we'll see.

I can jump to some conclusions though, however far fetched, based on the info we've gathered so far (and I missed the latest Doctor Who episode so correct me if I'm wrong here on any of my points).

River Song said (or it was heavily implied) she was the Doctor's future wife/girlfriend (she knew his real name the first time David Tennant's Doctor met her) and that she was originally imprisoned for killing a "hero" or at least the "bravest person she ever knew". Now we presumed it was the Doctor himself and we can even conclude that it might not have been the little Timelord girl in the astronaut suit that shoots and kills the Doc on the beach, it's River. We know that he knew it was going to happen and that he knew his killer (he spoke to her inaudibly before he was shot), so it's all planned for a reason... Will we get a conclusion to that? We'll see. To be honest River could kill Amy...

However you can also jump to the conclusion that River is actually Amy's Timelord daughter and that's why she's so good with the Tardis, knows so much about our Doctor and will no doubt bow out of the series this season after her revelation... I'm going with that for now on the info I have. However as with most sci-fi programmes nothing is ever what it seems and I'm sure the whole storyline will be turned on its head and nothing we expected will actually happen, and that's a good thing. Me and my kids want to be shocked and go "WHAT?". I also believe (due to hearing Karen has a new TV job and is appearing at LFCC in July) that Amy certainly either dies or is wiped from time etc by the last episode of the season... I hope not, but again I feel it in my bones.

Is the baby the Doctor's baby in some way? An actual Doctor's daughter? Naughty, naughty...

Lastly... And this is complete horsepoo of course... But... Is the baby the Doctor? As in - Is Amy the Doctor's Mother through some sort of Paradox and he doesn't know or his generation cycle as a girl before becoming the William Hartnell Doctor is unknown etc? The Doc has always joked about transforming into a girl so could writer Steven Moffat do something like that, fit that into his timeline/ alter history? The Doc did wipe out all the Timelords for instance... Is that the weapon they talk about in the trailer? Hmmmmm...

Also - A few questions do arise from the teaser trailer for "A good man goes to war", the mid season finale, below.

1) Why is Rory back in his Roman gear? Are we going back in time to the Pandorica incident? Cybermen, Roman Rory etc.
2) If the baby is destined to be a weapon, is she the weapon/person that kills the Doctor or just something else as I mentioned above?
3) Why are the Cybermen, Sontarans and Judoon back? Are they on the Docs side this time or bad as usual? Is the baby that important that they're all out to obtain her etc?
4) Why is the Doctor being hunted by that army ("on this day, in this place, the Doctor will fall"), is there a disaster that he causes (other than the death of all the Timelords) that they want to kill him for? Is that why he accepts his death by the astronaut? Or are we talking about "Doctor River Song"? Unlikely. My brain hurts...
5) Why do the hooded soldiers have flaming lightsabers?
6) Everytime River talks about her identity she's sad... WHY OH FRICKIN WHY?

We'll just have to wait and see... Enjoy the teaser trailer below.

First Full Image Of Sentinel Prime From Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon - Gundam?

Nothing too special here but a new image has been released of Sentinel Prime from Trans 3 and has caused a few fans to scream "Gundam"! As you can see from the pictures below there are a few similarities including the shield, pointy shoulders, antenna and giant feet. Although I'm going with "Klingon" due to his double bladed weapon which reminds me of a Bat'leth... :P

Ultra Cute Kitten Video...

I'm not usually one for ultra-cute things but I really liked this short video of a little kitten having a nightmare (or a fantastic dream) who then gets pulled in and snuggled by what I presume is its mother... All together now: "Awwwwwwwwwwww"! :P

Hobbit Movies Get Official Titles And Release Dates - Press Release

New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have announced the titles and release dates for filmmaker Peter Jackson’s two-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit. The first film, titled “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” will be released on December 14, 2012. The second film, titled “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013.

Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings,” which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.” The adventure of “The Hobbit” follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

Under Jackson’s direction, both movies are being shot consecutively in digital 3D using the latest camera and stereo technology. Filming is taking place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and Martin Freeman, who just won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the BBC series “Sherlock,” takes on the central role of Bilbo Baggins. Also reprising their roles from “The Lord of the Rings” movies are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. The ensemble cast also includes (in alphabetical order) Richard Armitage, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, and Aidan Turner.

The screenplays for “The Hobbit” films are by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson. Jackson is also producing the films, together with Fran Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham. The executive producers are Ken Kamins and Zane Weiner, with Philippa Boyens serving as co-producer.

“The Hobbit” films are productions of New Line Cinema and MGM, with New Line managing production. Warner Bros Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television licensing being handled by MGM.

Wanna Know What The New Battlestar Galactica Was All About But Don't Have The Time To Watch It All?

Condensed into just over 8 minutes this video below gives you a rapid description of almost the entire Battlestar Galactica (new version) history/timeline (up until Starbuck's return at least). To be honest I'd forgotten most of what the voiceover describes anyway... That can't be good!

Enjoy!

Dead Island - 20 Minute Gameplay Trailer

Those that know me well enough know that although I usually despise the horror genre and anything to do with zombies (except maybe Shaun of the Dead) I'm completely obsessed with the X-box 360 game - Left 4 Dead and its sequel Left 4 Dead 2.

I'm not really one for 3rd person zombie games either, only the first person variety so as I'd mistakenly presumed the upcoming "Dead Island" would be 3rd person I wrote it off and only posted the scary/nasty trailer a while back because it was pretty impressive... Anyway, to cut a long story short Dead Island is a first person shooter/slasher and it looks pretty damned wicked... and unbelievably gory. Loving the Dead Rising-style weapon creation too!

You'll have to wait until about 2 minutes and 5 seconds in for the blood bath to commence...

NSFW!
