Movie And TV News Roundup Of The Month

I haven't been able to post in well over a month (regular posting should resume soon!) so here's a quick look at the entertainment news I've missed:

Wonder Woman 1984 cast and director photo copying The Breakfast Club.

First BTS photo of Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth on the set of the new Men In Black reboot movie.

The first official image of Isabella Moner as Dora the Explorer in the new live-action movie.

First official image of Yifei Liu as Mulan in the live-action remake of the Disney film.

Gal Gadot announced her role as "Shank" in Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet, a racer not unlike her Fast and Furious character.

Both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have dropped out of the 4th Star Trek reboot movie, so it will probably now be cancelled... How can you have Star Trek without Kirk?

Tom Cruise is said to be the front-runner to play Green Lantern in the new DC movie, but only if they re-write the script which had his character (Hal Jordan?) die at the end...

Fox is developing new movies based on it's biggest animated franchises!

The new DC animated movies have been announced (I can't wait!).

The Flash's new season suit has been shown to us and there are mixed feelings online from Fans. Actor Grant Gustin says it's favourite whilst others hate the new helmet and skinny neck look.

The dates for the highly anticipated CW Arrowverse crossover episodes have been released and this is the one where we'll finally meet one of the Bat-Family - Batwoman, played by Ruby Rose. Superman will also return and will be bringing Lois Lane with him.

LazyTown's Robbie Rotten actor Stefan Karl Stefansson has passed away from cancer at only 43 years old. A huge part of my two daughters' TV upbringing. R.I.P

Patrick Stewart Returning As Jean-Luc Picard In New Star Trek Show

In a surprise appearance on stage at the Las Vegas Star Trek convention this week actor Patrick Stewart shocked the crowd by announcing that he would be returning to the Star Trek universe as his most beloved character "Jean-Luc Picard". The new CBS show (which has nothing to do with the new Discovery series) has no scripts, no name, and no other cast members yet, but we know that Stewart made absolutely clear that Picard may no longer be a Captain and the version we will see on screen will be very different from the one we know. I'm presuming he means this is a retired character, not the adventurous, space-travelling one we're used to.

Either way, Star Trek fans should be happy for his return to the role. I wonder what cameos we'll see from The Next Generation?!

Charlie's Angels Reboot - Cast Announced

So the main cast for the Charlie's Angels reboot has been announced and we now know that Elizabeth Banks will not only be directing and producing the film but will also portray Bosley. We then have Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, and Kristen Stewart as the Angels themselves, although I'm not sure which character each actress is playing yet.

Pretty sure this'll be less tongue-in-cheek and more kick-ass than the previous couple of films with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu!

Birds Of Prey Movie - Characters Revealed

I've held back on the Birds of Prey movie news as I wanted to know who the main villain would be, and now we know, as yesterday it was announced that it'll be none other than Black Mask.

We've never seen a live-action version of Black Mask before, only video game and cartoon iterations, so this should be pretty cool. Add that to Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and it should be fun too.

We also know that the Birds of Prey team will consist of Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya, but no casting news has been released yet. I have my hopes for a couple of actresses here, but we'll see what happens. :)

Ruby Rose Cast As Batwoman

Now before you get too worked up it should be made clear that this is for the CW network in conjunction with their DC TV shows like Arrow, Flash etc and Ruby will be portraying Ms. Kane/Batwoman on the new crossover episode that's coming up soon. It's not for anything like the Birds of Prey movie etc.

Ruby stated on Instagram: "The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored. I’m also an emotional wreck.. because this is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different.
Thank you everyone. Thank you god."

I, for one, am ecstatic. I love Ruby Rose and I love all Batman/Gotham characters. Can't wait!

New Terminator Movie - First Official Image

Here's the first 'official' pic from the upcoming Terminator 2: Judgement Day sequel featuring Natalia Reyes, Mackenzie Davis, and the return of the OG - Linda Hamilton (reprising her iconic role as Sarah Connor).

The movie is produced by James Cameron but directed this time by Tim Miller and this film purposefully dismisses all sequels following the second movie by Cameron. There are no plot details yet, or even a confirmed movie title, but the movie will reunite Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as introducing a new Terminator in the guise of Gabriel Luna (best known for portraying Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D).

Pretty sure the amount of people dreading this film are equal to those who are happy it's being made, but I'm in the latter. :)
