Robert Sheehan (Nathan) Not Returning for Misfits Series 3...

WHAT?!!!

It has been revealed that fan-favourite (AND PROBABLY MY FAVOURITE!) character from Misfits - Nathan (Robert Sheehan) will not be returning for the third series of the hit British Sci-fi Drama, Executive Producer Petra Fried has revealed at a panel at Kapow Comic Con.

Nathan, one of five young offenders granted supernatural powers during a lightning storm while doing community service, has become something of a break-out character for the show due to his dry humor and extensive sarcasm.

[SPOILER ALERT]
Originally thought to be the only member of the group not to possess any super powers, it was revealed in the Series 1 finale that he was in fact immortal, and had been buried alive when he was thought to be dead.

Series 2 opened with the character being freed thanks to Kelly (Lauren Socha), who was able to read his mind. He was last seen in the Season 2 finale, a Christmas special that ended with a cliff hanger in which the group had sold their powers and were about to buy them back from a super-powered ex-drug dealer.

Actor Robert Sheehan, who plays the cocky character, has recently found success in roles in films such as Killing Bono and Season of the Witch. It is thought that he is leaving the show to pursue further film roles.

The character of Nathan will be written out of the show during a final appearance in a one-off show to be broadcast exclusively online, which will also introduce fans to replacement character Rudy, another super powered character who will join the rest of the group for the third series.

It is unknown how the character will be written out due to the nature of his power, although a spokesperson for the show said "In typical Misfits fashion, a trip to Vegas ends in total disaster for motor-mouth Nathan. The exact nature of the super-teen's departure is being kept firmly under wraps, but it may or may not involve some pic 'n' mix, a Fisherman's Friend, and a tripling incident."

The role of Rudy is currently uncast.

Howard Overman, the creator of Misfits, said: "It's great to be launching the third series of Misfits with an online film which introduces our new character Rudy, as well as saying goodbye to Nathan."

Misfits was created by Howard Overman and stars Iwan Rheon, Robert Sheehan, Lauren Socha, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Antonia Thomas.

Series 3 of Misfits is expected to return in November on E4 in the UK.
