Weird & Wonderful Pics & Artwork From The Web...

Yet another large dose of some weird, wonderful, wacky and plain crazy images from around the web for you to enjoy...

The Standing Cat Is Watching You...

Another video finding popularity this week is the very strange "standing cat" who is watching something out of his/her window whilst staying up on its hind legs. Nothing too special, just a little freaky. If it had talked I would have fallen off my chair...

Freaky Yet Amazing Sci-fi Short - The Gift

Having discovered this new video online I was amazed to find out that it's one of 5 short films created by different directors commissioned by electronics manufacturer Philips. The only thing each director was told they had to do was include the dialog "It's a Unicorn", apart from that they had free reign to do whatever they wished...

All five shorts are now up online HERE and each is amazing in its own way.

I think my favourite has to be the Carl Erik Rinsch directed "The Gift" below which is freaky, haunting, excellent and very realistic.

Give it a go and see what you think.

The Next Susan Boyle? Taiwanese Boy (Lin Yu Chun).

My Mum sent me a text this morning saying I should take a look on Youtube at the newest singing sensation Lin Yu Chun. Lin is a Taiwanese boy competing on a Taiwanese X-Factor type show who sings the very famous Dolly Parton/ Whitney Houston song "I will always love you".

We've seen this song done to death by various wannabe artists over the last few years, with varying degrees of success, but the scary thing is that this ordinary looking boy really does pound out an incredible performance that pretty much rivals Whitney's version...

Ya gotta love nature's ability to conjure up young talent like this, that little spark of genius and pure talent which grabs the hearts and minds of so many across the globe. Well done Lin, waiting to hear about the record deal now! Oh and loving the Lego hair dude!

Cool Geeky Kokeshi Dolls!

I'm a big collector of anything weird and wonderful as long as it includes sci-fi or superhero characters. I love Mighty Muggs and urban vinyl products and am always on the look out for something kooky or cool which can't be found in your local supermarket.

Over on etsy.com user temple7e has produced a whole bunch of cool custom Kokeshi dolls which are based on numerous characters from Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek and Turtles etc. Supposedly the Nintendo Wii's Mii avatars are based off the beloved Kokeshi doll's basic design and are usually decorated in Japanese Kimono patterns.

You can see all of temple7e's work HERE and buy them there too should you feel the need.

Heidi Montag Thinks She'd Be A Better Lara Croft Than Angelina And Megan?

OK so this may have just been a joke on Heidi's part but nevertheless she Tweeted the other day ”I want to be blonde Tomb Raider. I’m better with guns than both Angelina and Megan Fox put together!”

Yeah but hunny you do know that you need to be able to act just a teeny bit for that, and that with all that plastic you've taken on board you'd probably melt near the pyrotechnics, or something would drop off if you started to run. Sorry but until a live-action Barbie movie comes out I think you're out of the running for anything better.

Blonde Lara Croft indeed!

Megan Fox To Play Red Sonja?

I am right in saying it's waaaaay after April the 1st aren't I?

So this news, if only a rampant rumour, isn't an April fools joke or something?

Well either way most movie sites are ablaze with the news that Rose McGowan is out of the running for the new Red Sonja remake and none other than Megan Fox could be set to replace her.

Supposedly Fox has been offered the part of the red headed sword wielder after McGowan was cast in the new Conan movie.

Now I'm having a problem with this news for a couple of reasons...

1) Megan recently said she was looking for more "serious" roles and turned down playing the much more lucrative and high profile role of Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider movie. Would she then jump to Red Sonja now it's been offered? Is that any more "serious" or appetising for her?

2) Megan is just about the skinniest and most flawlessly gorgeous looking female celeb in Hollywood. She's not exactly known for physical, action orientated, kick-ass roles (and yes I also include Transformers 1 and 2 in that as she's only running etc). And come to think about it Rose McGowan wasn't any stronger looking than Fox either. In other words I can't see her as a barbarian type character. Was it only me that remembers Bridgette Nielson being able to kick numerous bloke's asses because she was 6 foot 1 and built like an oak tree? Look at the pic below and see if you think she fits the look... I personally don't.

We'll have to wait and see if this news is true... Hopefully not, although I'm not saying seeing Megan in the above Sonja garb isn't a very nice thought. ;P

New Iron Man 2 Clip - Stark Expo.

A two minute clip for you here featuring Tony Stark's entrance to the Stark Expo.

Really looking forward to this, looks awesome!

Play The Tremors Video Game Online!

I love the original "Tremors" movie starring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward and Finn Carter so this online flash game based on the film (although renamed "Tremerz" to obviously avoid a law suit) is a bit of awesomeness for me! The game sees you gathering up your buddies in familiar spots whilst jumping and dodging the various underground dwelling "Graboids" which are out to kill you.

Simple yet effective fun for Tremors fans of all ages!

You can play the game HERE.

Enjoy!

10 Minutes Of Arnie's Greatest Movie Quotes...

If you're an obsessive Arnie movie fan like me (and possibly my missus) then you'll love this 10 minute Youtube video which showcases 160 of Arnie's greatest quotes and sentances from a plethora of his films.

The missus actually saw me watching this and sat on my lap to see it through to the end, both of us competing to shout out what film each quote/ scene was from... I won of course. Wicked stuff.

Enjoy!

The Smurfs Movie Begins Production in New York

Principal photography began Friday, March 26, in New York on Columbia Pictures'/Sony Pictures Animation's hybrid live-action and animated family comedy, The Smurfs, it was announced today by Bob Osher, president of Sony Pictures Digital Productions, Hannah Minghella, president of Sony Pictures Animation and Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures.

Audiences everywhere are in for a Smurfy good time as the Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours - in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down. The film is set for release August 3, 2011.

Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, and Hank Azaria star on camera opposite an all-star voice cast. Anton Yelchin will play Clumsy Smurf; comedy legend Jonathan Winters, who voiced roles in the "Smurfs" television series, will voice Papa Smurf; Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Katy Perry will play Smurfette; Alan Cumming will play Gutsy Smurf; "SNL's" Fred Armisen will voice Brainy Smurf; and George Lopez will play Grouchy Smurf.

In the live-action roles, Azaria will play the Smurfs' nemesis, the evil wizard Gargamel. Harris and Mays star as an expectant couple whose lives are turned upside down when the Smurfs cross over from their magical village to New York City. Vergara plays Odile, Harris's boss, a cosmetics executive.

The film is directed by Raja Gosnell. The screenplay is by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss and Jay Scherick & David Ronn, based on the characters and works of Peyo. The producer is Jordan Kerner and Ezra Swerdlow, Ben Haber, and Paul Neesan are the executive producers.

Commenting on the announcement, Minghella said, "We're thrilled with the way our cast has come together. Raja and Jordan and the entire team working on The Smurfs have developed a film with tremendous heart and great comedy and now we have a dream cast to bring the movie to life."

Adds producer Jordan Kerner, "What a wonderful journey this has been. The time is right for an adventure that will thrill fans and introduce the blue heroes to a new generation, and the technology is here to allow the three-apple-high Smurfs to appear in all their glory on the big screen and in 3D. Columbia Pictures has been magnificent at every turn in their commitment to get The Smurfs to the screen. Our partners at Lafig, including Peyo's daughter Veronique Culliford, have been with us in the creation of the story and characters every step of the way. It's a real thrill to begin shooting and working with our compatriots at Sony Pictures Animation. Just wait - the blue invasion is coming!"

Black Canary Returns To Smallville!

If you're a huge Alaina Huffman fan like me and Dark Knight you'll be pleased to know that not only is the blonde uber-hottie appearing at this May's London MCM Expo (YAY!) and she's back on US t.v. in Stargate Universe (double YAY!) but she'll also be reprising her role as Black Canary in the season finale of Smallville (triple YAY!).

"Salvation" will air on May 14th and her appearance is rumoured to be that of a reunion for the rest of the young Justice League, leading into season 10.

Can't wait to meet her and get her autograph next month!!! ;) Here are some pics of the lovely Miss Huffman below.

Star Wars Clone Wars Season 2 Finale - Boba Fett Strikes Back!

My daughter and I are huge fans of the CG series Clone Wars and as I mentioned recently Boba Fett has come back (albeit in his young form still) with a vengeance... Literally.

Below is the exclusive trailer for the finale showing that Mace Windu's actions on Geonosis (namely beheading Boba's father Jango Fett) will come back to bite him in the ass...

And then there's a small vid of a scene with a Godzilla sized "Zillo beast" that Mace and some Troopers have to battle in another episode.

Enjoy!
