Star Wars Ep VII - Casting News & Photos
So yet another late post here about the casting of both Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) and Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) in the seventh outing of Star Wars being directed by J.J. Abrams. Excellent news for those of us wanting great actors, let's just hope this is more classic SW and not prequel quality.
The most recent news separate to casting today was the unfortunate info that Han Solo himself Harrison Ford was rushed to hospital by helicopter after somehow crushing his ankle by what was said to be a garage door... Hope he gets better quick!
Below you'll find on-set images of the Tatooine set and the Millenium Falcon and X-Wings being built. Awesome stuff.
Kryptonian Warrior's Video Games To Look Forward To - Videos
Videos from both PAX and E3 here for some of the games I'm most looking forward to (if I had the next gen consoles they're going to be released on!). Far Cry 4, Batman: Arkham Knight, and Evolve especially! :)
Movie X-Men Compared To Their 90's Cartoon Versions
This isn't my usual style of post but as a huge 90's X-Men cartoon fan, and X-Men fan in general, I had to post this up.
Found via x-meninyourface.tumblr.com this awesome photo amalgamation of movie and cartoon X-Men gives us a great comparison between the two versions of all the characters we know and love.
Enjoy!

Dumb And Dumber To - First Official Trailer!
I have to admit that I haven't seen the first Dumb and Dumber movie for years but watching this trailer for the sequel brings back a lot of crazy memories, and to be honest although films like this aren't always my bag I'm loving it just from this trailer. :)
Enjoy!

Terminator Genesis - On Set Photos!
Below are some leaked on-set photos of Arnold Schwarzenegger (an older Terminator), Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor), and Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese).
So far there aren't a lot of new details abut this new Terminator film (other than what I've psted about before like Matt Smith, Myles Dyson's son etc) but it's recently been stated that the storyline interjects with the original 1984 Terminator movie with both younger and older versions of the T-800 cyborg and interesting time-travel based twists throughout.

Marvel Casting News For Daredevil, Guardians Of The Galaxy & More!
Once again this news is late, so apologies if you've heard it already, but here's a brief bit of official and rumour-based casting news from the world of Marvel movies.
Marvel geeks were delighted at the end of May/beginning of June to officially hear that actor Josh Brolin (The Goonies, Gangster Squad etc) nabbed the role of one of Marvel comic's most notorious villains - Thanos. The character was glimpsed briefly at the end of Avengers (mid-credits) and his goal of achieving the 6 Infinity stones/gems seems to be the focused sub-story for most of the Marvel movies recently released so we all knew we'd see more of him. Supposedly we're going to see Thanos appear in Guardians of the Galaxy (post/mid credits again) and then have a slightly more prominent role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Josh has the acting chops, and most definitely the chin, to play the foreboding villain and I know I'm not the only one who wants to get Avengers 2 out of the way (in a good way) and get to 3 very damn quickly!
I have to admit that the casting choice for Matt Murdock/Daredevil has perplexed me slightly and my initial response when I heard the news was a confused "WHAT?" but it was confirmed at the end of May that actor Charlie Cox (Stardust) will be our "Man Without Fear". The first of the Netlix Marvel collaborative TV shows will debut in 2015 and will have 13 episodes. We'll then get Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders after that. Let's hope that the more recent legacy of Ben Affleck is forgotten and we get a great show.
On top of the Matt Murdock casting we also recently heard that actor Vincent D'Onofrio (Men in Black, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) has signed on to play the larger than life Hell's Kitchen villain "The Kingpin" in the show. A staple bad guy from the comics, cartoons (Spider-Man), and Daredevil movie the Kingpin will no doubt be the main antagonist plotting behind the scenes for the entire run of episodes. Great actor for a welcome role.
Now this news is totally rumour-based but it would seem that Marvel studios are currently on the hunt for their "Sorcerer Supreme" and may well be looking in the direction of Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club). Previous rumours have pointed at a huge amount of actors including Johnny Depp, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, and even Tom Hardy. To be honest I'd choose Benedict over all of these but would hope that an older actor like Timothy Dalton may be chosen instead! When the casting is complete I'll be putting it up on here. :)

SJA- Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith review
Hey there,
This being the finale episode of a the fourth series which I think is a fantastic array of stories, Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith needed to bigger and better than the previous stories which could have been very difficult as the quality of writing was so high.
The main theme was Sarah Jane realising that she's getting older and that she may not be physically able to continue to save the world.
Sarah Jane's development was wonderfully performed by Elisabeth Sladen who has such an amazing talent of being able to show the audience what she's feeling just through her eyes.
Her fear was so prominant that I felt scared for her as she knew that this amazing life she led doesn't make her invincible and that eal life can just barge its way in.
In terms of the tone of this story, I felt that this story had a more grown up feel to it which I loved by how Rani and Clyde have grown and how Sarah Jane acts differently with them knowing that their getting older by trusting them to be able to take a more dangerous role in the saving of the world.
Here comes Ruby White; the manipulative, vicious and spiteful alien who had been imprisoned by her own people for her hunger for life energy was too powerful.
I think Russell T Davies approach to introducing her character was cleverly written because he made her appear similiar to Sarah Jane so that her real agenda could be brought to the surface by getting Sarah Jane to trust her into giving Ruby what is essentially her whole life.
As Sarah Jane begins handing Ruby her keys to her home and the sonic lipstick I felt a pang of sadness and hope that Sarah Jane would realise what she's doing.
But here is where Ruby's true nature comes to fruition when she admits to making Sarah Jane ill by draining her life force.
In my view, this was a cruel and humiliating act to do to anyone but effectively emphasised Ruby's sheer sadistic and selfish character.
Another character development was when Clyde discovered that Sarah Jane had left and blamed her leaving on Rani after she suggested that Sarah Jane needed a holiday.
I could really see how much his Dad leaving him has affected him by his fear of people he loves leaving him without a word.
Additionally, their relationship took a turbulent tumble as Rani was taken a back by Clyde's outburst which at last showed how complex their relationship is.
Luke's surprise return was a nostalgic element that was fitting for the last story of the series but also enabled the character's to channel how they feel about Luke leaving.
Again, this enhanced how these characters have grown which I could relate to and allowed me to feel comfortable with getting older myself.
A different tone, a witty and complex script, great character developments, engaging music and a despicable villian that you couldn''t help but like.... at times.

Sarah Jane Adventures Mark of the Berserker review
Hey there,
If you're a dedicated and faithful fan of the Sarah Jane Adventures like myself then you will know that this episode centres around Clyde and how his sudden return of his father affects him and his Mum.
Also, there are many themes inlaced in this story as Clyde boldy asks his Dad why he left them and tries to figure out whether he should tell his Dad about this bonkers and excitiing life that he know leads.
Eventually, he does decide to tell him but not only that he takes him up to the attic and let's his Dad fiddle with Sarah Jane's alien gizmos.
For some reason I felt a bit irritated with Cylde's Dad being in the attic because there he was enthrusted into a new and amazing world that a lot of people would cherish whereas he doesn't look at this world and thinks it's exciting and fantastic, all he envisions is a new venture into making money.
From this point on, my likeness for him dwindled and I happily cheered on Cylde's mum into reaching her son in time before his Dad took him away.
What I found despicable was that even though Cylde's Dad was beginning to become a blue veined alien, he used the creepy alien necklace powers to make Clyde forget about the people that care and love him the most just for his own pathetic and selfish reasons.
See now this is the part where I care a lot about the characters and start rambling on about how others are treating them badly.
That's why shows created by Russell T Davies are so unique and phenomenal because he creates such engaging and interesting characters that are thrown into a strange world that you can explore and experience the stories with them.
This episode touches on the realisitic dilemmas of life like parent and child relationships that have been pulled into a strange and magical world that can sometimes help you to sift through those problems with a little help from the aliens!

Magic Monday: Wildstar is here! (Sort of..)
So today marks the last day of the WildStar preorder head start with the games official release date tomorrow! Is WildStar the subscription based MMO the chosen one, finally able to live up to the name "WoW killer"? Only time will tell but even with World of Warcrafts newest expansion on the horizon, WildStar is shaping up to be a whole new breed of MMO altogether.
I was hoping this post would be a review piece but due to three or four unforeseen circumstances (work, family, queue times and complete and utter laptop failure) I haven't been able to play a single second of WildStar since the head start began Saturday morning at 8am when I was walking out of the door for work while my husband sat at his PC re-entering his login details over and over. It seemed that Carbine studios may have been far too humble when estimating just how many games had been preordered and therefore how many players would all be trying to log in at once for this headstart (ONE EN PVP server I tell you, ONE?!) and as a consequence servers quickly became full to capacity causing insanely long queue times hailing back to the vanilla World of Warcraft launch itself when Blizzard wrongly gauged the unrentling masses of players wanting to enter the online world of Azeroth. Also, like the fated WoW launch some of the players who did manage to get in experienced huge spikes of lag and although due to the "loot vacuuming" system wildstar employs players were not quite yelling the infamous "kneel and loot stuff for half an hour" line it is extremely hard to deal with any amount of lag in a game where the combat system is heavily dependant on being able to "GET OUT OF THE FIRE!" (Well...enemy telegraphs in this case) it can easily make the game completely unplayable and very frustrating.
For most who were up and at 'em at 8am (GMT) for the launch, Saturday 31st may shall now be know as the day of the formidable chupacabra login boss (due to the little hamster like chupacabra creature running in a wheel which is the loading animation for the game) or the day of the log in simulator as many are left hours and hours in queues waiting to log in. How does this bode for the official full release day coming our way tomorrow morning? I can happily say I'm at work so at least I can start queueing in the morning and when I come home from my nine hour shift I might be logged in. With any luck Carbine have now more than realised their capacity problems and are dealing with them appropriately as I am aware they are currently creating more servers to deal with the demand.
All that said however this game is more than worth the wait, just from playing the Beta I can tell you that it's beautiful, funny, imaginitive, immersing and the combat system is one of the best I have ever played. It's such a refreshing feeling having to pay fierce attention while playing an MMO and not just button mashing the same rotation over and over while watching My Little Pony, I feel like this really brings back how MMO's should be.Check out the video below for a bit of an explanation on how the movement/aiming system works.
I've fallen in love with the art and the style of the game as well, it's almost a mix of WoW and TeamFortress 2, semi realistic with plenty of cartoonish styles thrown in which I'm a huge fan of in any format, most of the landscapes are a pure joy to behold with bright and bold colours that really bring Nexus to life and sort of remind me of the planet of Pandora (from the Avatar film) where the beautiful plant and animal life is as likely to try and kill you as often as not.
Also this picture is actually a house you can live in, in game! That's right! There is a whole plot of land just for you and your fully customisable house! You can also get loads of loot throughout the game to customise your house and the land around it even more! You can ever have friends over for a party. It's pretty damn awesome. This game even makes questing with friends fun and really embodies the true spirit of an MMO. so if you haven't had a chance to check it out already mozzie on over to the wildstar website or youtube website, I highly reccomend the devspeak videos as a real look into the game and it's mechanics. The game officially launches tomorrow and I wouldn't want any of you to miss it!
